The Ashes 2025

It's definitely doing less than last years game. Its hot in Perth, bloody hot and with the new stadium there's no prevailing wind (the doctor its called, lovely name) coming through in the afternoon to give bowlers a respite. They will tire and runs should flow, providing they keep their smarts.

England's dismissals were mainly through not playing straight, defensively and offensively, its a short boundary down the ground too. A bit of patience on the short ball is all that's required.
It looks a bloody big boundary perpendicular for the right handers hook shot. Stokes smote one offside for 6. Do you know why they've named the ground 'The Doctor'? It is a sight like.

I dont think you can consistently take on the short ball in Australia and have success. Some of the boundaries are 15 or 20 yards longer than in England. If you try to clear it you will get out quickly.

There are lots of ways to be aggressive without trying to hook and pull for 6s.

Sorry, the prevailing wind is called The Doctor, it blows a cool breeze off the sea in the late afternoon, a great name as it helps fight off the searing heat. At the old ground there was lots of gaps in the stands and grass banks so it could blow through on the bowlers backs, but no chance in a bowl.

I think you can, the pitches are faster and bowlers quicker so it flies further, but you don't go for it when there's 5 players waiting out there for a catch. Brook was rolling the wrist on them for a single, he's a smart player.

If you are able to keep it down then absolutely. But you definitely can't expect success if you try going aerial on a regular basis.

Another thing to keep in mind for tomorrow is that in the first innings, Starc bowled pretty much unchanged. He contributed 13 of the 32 overs. With Cummings and Hazlewood due back at some stage, it would be pretty useful if they could knacker out Starc in the 2nd innings.
