Two of the u19s who didn’t start were Armstrong and Monga of Leicester , both have been starting a lot of Championship matches recently, other talented player like Rigg and Dowman have been getting PL minutes but not starting regularly. I think they called it right for Armstrong, he’d start if needed but wasn’t needed .

….i do think clubs have more of a say about international appearances at those levels.
 
Prestons manager on why Armstrong didnt get England u19 starts + also mentioned that if the games were important he'd have played:


“But they know he’s developing and the priority for him, and everyone involved in Harrison’s development, is him playing week in, week out in the Championship.

“So, the minutes he played out there is not a reflection on how they value him as their captain. They know how good he is but they feel he’s better suited to, or better for his development right now, playing for us week in, week out in the Championship.”

Does sound like a bit of a fabricated response, but if he's coming back fully fit than more gametime we can see..

Armstrong had a knock and was back at Everton in the week, to be checked over. No surprise he’s not involved tonight
