2025/26 David Moyes

Refer to AS Roma. Look at the Serie A table right now. They hired Gasperini who spent literally years and years overcoming one botch at Inter before having to wait to bring unfashionable Atalanta to champions league football and a europa league win. What’s the point? The Friedkins. Roma were crap all last season. They moved to hire a proper tactically astute manager who’s put them on course already for potential success. In sort order time too. Moyes is not the man, notwithstanding the lack of options and his tactical illiteracy will see this team finish 15th
I’m not sure that’s the friedkins specifically, we have a different footballing structure to Roma so it’s not necessarily the same people making the decisions. I’ve not seen much evidence at Everton that the friedkins are these uber ambitious totally ruthless owners some people want to claim they are.

They're far better than us at the moment, he's a good manager but he takes time to implement his very particular system and has been backed up with a proper squad to execute his vision.
Perfectly happy to wait if that scenario played out with iraola at the helm. However that might be unlikely to happen as you suggest. There is individual quality in the team but Moyes has no great tactical nous or plan. It’s not been good this season. I guess that’s the bleedin’ obvious.

Yeah but it’s not blue Bill’s plaything anymore. It’s a new era. They may very well not be the ruthless owners you suggest but they ain’t mugs. They won’t hesitate to move if this nonsense continues.

It is - but did DM spend it well ? patchy to say the least we look worse now than last season - Branthwaite is a big miss - but our full back & central midfield is a big problem - plus the CF position e.g we need one ... Nydaye would be a quick fix Alacraz as no 10 - Gana dropped - DH alongside Garner - the two big men need a run in the under 23s - lack of confidence ....

DM has to get the balance of his signings correct or we will slip up bad style - the new owners will not be as patient as in the past .....

Each week its rinse & repeat we were very lucky v Palace - papering over the cracks ....

I hope DM has learnt something today - we are so slow in the opposition half .... our build up is so predictable .....
I think there's an inquest to be opened over how decisions were made that window. I'm assuming Moyes has to have signed off on them all as that was his habit here before.

I'm holding hope that Dibling and Barry are going to start having an impact in line with their fees.

If they don't, then it's absolutely fair to ask questions over why those were the signings we chose to make with a limited budget.

Stability is hiring a manager and sticking with him, not wasting money on hiring only to fire after a year then hiring someone else for another year only to fire them

Soon as Moyes goes, whoever comes in will get given the same treatment if they lose a couple matches. I’m not saying Moyes should stay longer than this season but there’s far too many who aren’t happy unless it’s their choice in charge, even if they don’t fit
So which of Benitez, Lampard or Dyche should we have let take us down in the name of “stability”?

Said all the right things about ambition and then couldn’t get Kenny Tete to leave Fulham.

We’ll see. I’ll judge them on what they actually do, not an image of them I’ve concocted in my own mind.
It’s coming. One win in five. That was absolutely poxy lucky against palace. Minus goal difference. Pumped today at set pieces. Yeah Craig Pawson is the pits, but I digress. Summer recruitment is being shown up by the match. So much is so samey, so nothing, so pointless. Threat is minimal. Tyler Dibling at 42m may work out but the signs are negligible under old Dave’s who won’t even play Charley who is an obviously safe pair of hands. It’s horrendous.

The momentum of football can swing like a pendulum, I remember just a month ago my Man united friends were completely distraught as united languished in the bottom half of the table now they're in the top six. Things are very unsatisfying right now but if Moyes can win against Sunderland and Fulham we have a good chance of being in the top half. Despite Sunderland's current for they're beatable along with Fulham.
