Billy's money paid for Gibson, jelavic and pienaar loan..

Ok great by my thinking there MUST be at least 5M left over from the summer's dealings of pienaar arteta yak beckford ect who went out of the door.

Take that, sell vic Mucha yobo which should bring in 5M. There's your 10M for moyes to sign pienaar and a RW. Add a few free/loan deals and were good to go..

I doubt it, the banks will have had it.

All of that money went to the banks.

Fixed that for you. Because apart from them, no-one else has paid over the odds. Rooney was sold to Utd on the cheap, likewise Arteta to Arsenal. OK maybe Barmby to the Sh1te was robbery but there was a premium on that because it was them. The more you look at it the more painful it is; £2.5m for Ritchie Dunne for example was a giveaway at his age at the time.

Sounds to me like he's paving the way for an early sale of one of our stars and the betting would be on Baines going to Manchester. At least this would mean any ins would be got early, which is an absolute necessity given the non-events that the last 2 summer transfer windows have been, and our subsequent poor starts to the season. We haven't done our business early since 2006 when Howard, Lescott and Johnson arrived. Don't think we'll be getting anywhere near £20m for Baines though, more like £12-15m as has been said.

I can see where you're coming from.

3 seasons ago we were in a position of power, challenging for top 4, and funny enough where our finances werent as scrutinized.

Now we are lacking in power of a few seasons ago, its well publicised the bank is on our arse, and well never reach any success as it carries on like it is...we're in no real position to bargin on transfer fees

I think the bit you wrote about Barkley makes quite a bit of sense now come to think of it, I was in denial that this was the case but it's starting to look the likely scenario.

I mean, how else do you explain him getting MOTM against QPR to then disappearing for almost the entire season?

[Poor language removed] off Everton.

Yeah you are probably right really.

Does ticket sales, merchandise, tv revenue, league positioning go straight to the banks/players wages and then we break even?

Pretty stupid if so though.

We have a hugely talented young player in our ranks. He will inevitibly be sold pretty early on down the line. So unlike Rooney who was played for a while then sold for big money to the ire of many fans the club think if they don't play
Barkely that the fans won't fume when he is sold.

Sold for about a third of what he's actually worth to a cash strapped club.

Yeah, the fans won't fume about that at all. And surely the club aren't all that fussed about the fans or they wouldn't of gone 2 and a hlaf seasons without signing a player.

The best thing to do would be play Barkley, push his fee up as much as possible and then sell him.

Fans wil fume anyway but i'd fume a lot less if we got £25 million for him than i would if we got £5 million.
