January Transfer Window 2026

Absolutely yeah! That's exactly the sort of thing people can forget to take into account when looking at stats (or just when watching a player even). Those stats are from the past calendar year - he was injured from mid October til mid January, so all of that data is from him under Moyes.

I like him a lot too, he can do a job in loads of positions and his 'floor' is very consistent if that makes sense, he pretty much never has a stinker. Super reliable. Every squad wants a player like that. I just really want us to upgrade on him as a nailed on starter in that central/defensive midfielder position.
Or maybe just a twinkle around with the system, with the abundance of our midfield his stats could fly up next to certain players that all benefit each other's game in the middle of the pitch..

It makes you wonder how someone like Grealishes stats under Pep would compare to his stats under Moyes..

Its just all crazy how a simple game on a muddy grass field ( jumpers for goalposts ) has become so intellectual..

The fullbacks are a massive priority. That Juanlu Sanchez, RB, from Sevilla we have been linked with looks decent. Sevilla wanted Patterson before the window shut, so maybe there is a deal to be done there.

I dont think we have been linked with any LB's since Reguilon in the summer

Not what we need IMO. Plays primarily as a RW for them in front of Carmona, who is far better. Need a more balanced player defensively and going forward.

Whilst I've no idea if any of them would be good enough, who are the best 4 or 5 strikers in the championship and would they be worth a look in January?

Yeah is strange with aznou do feel we will be in for a rb this window also the lad can play as a winger to
A first choice right back will be needed and get OBrien at CB if Branthwaite isn’t going to be fit.
Worrying if another injury

The lad at Birmingham (signed from Fulham) called Jay Stansfield looks a sharp, young, hungry striker who knows where the goal is. Definitely one who catches the eye as someone who could make the step up with potential to excel. Doubt we'd get him of course, or that he's even on the radar, but he seems like the kind of Championship-but-with-quality player Moyes used to love to find and was good at developing.

Well, any notional stuff about not shopping in January from Kinnear has to go out the window now. The loss of Branthwaite necessitates action. We can either allow it to derail our season, or mitigate the damage in January. An interesting test of the owners' ambition awaits...

I'd bet we get a couple of loans in. A defender (RB or CB) and a forward. It's a world cup year, so there will be players looking for game time. I doubt we spend big in Jan.
