2025/26 David Moyes

Periodic reminder that Carlo Ancelotti is an outstanding football manager and very much had the 'ability and worthiness' to manage Everton, but showed very little to suggest that he was actually suited to the job that he had. Obviously some people got embarrassingly starstruck by him and still fangirl over him now but at the end of the day he took over a team which had finished 8th the season before and finished 12th and 10th before running off and leaving us in the lurch.

Moyes has done a good job, he's much more suited to managing a club in our position than Ancelotti was.

Yeah. Not surprised he ran off. It highlights exactly how piss poor we were run. We were somehow able to attract one of the greatest managers of all time, and it didn't quite work out. However, he challenged for Europe, but ultimtely fell short. The fact he walked out is more of a condemnation of the club than it is a vindication of his critics. If anybody thinks Carlo would have taken us into a relegation fight (like err, actually happened after he left) then they're actually deluded. He gave us victories at Anfield, Arsenal and other places. We were in the hunt for CL places with a few games left of the season. He gave us James, and DCl scoring a ton of goals. He did a great job in the aftermath of the shitshow that went before. and err, after.

30 years is how long we've been "rebuilding". A whole generation of Evertonians have never seen us win a raffle. In that time we've been in one FA cup final and finished 4th once. Damn right I'm impatient. You should be too.

For the first time in a long time, it finally feels like we’re on the right path, mate.

Just give it a little bit more time and patience…

Hard to judge Carlo as a lot of his time at the club coincided with Covid

I bet if I had a look I could find a similar sentiment in the Moshiri thread a few months after he took over. I want to be clear, I'm not saying TFG are like Moshiri, all I'm saying is that we have no idea what sort of owners they will really be.

Not according to @Hinchcliffe's Corner he literally told me I can't compare TFG to the last lot. Which I thought was odd, tbh.

I literally just said before that you can but I don't know what you'll gain from comparing anything. Its your view, nobody trying to tell you you cant have it, I don't don't agree, you're welcome to be antsy about it but I'm happy to agree to disagree.

Crybots what has happened to you, turning on each other? I hate to see it I really do.

What makes me feel even worse is I agree with both of you. We should aim for the highest standard possible but it might also take a few steps over a few seasons to get there.

He is the common enemy this forum needs to unite. Senseless division otherwise.
He did at good job for a bit there, you know I said this. His time came to and end too late. Just like Moyes mk1. Hopefully we don't make the same mistake again. For now I'm enjoying Moyes making us comfy for a bit, the clubs been a mess, the world's a mess, a bit of chill tf out doesn't hurt anyone for a year.

I mean if we’re just going to cherry pick a few games then he also lost at home to 2 of the bottom 3, got knocked out of the cup by Liverpool under 9s and somehow failed to win a game we were 2-0 up in after 94 minutes, but yeah the half dozen games before james got bored were great.
