Why make it about the same characters in the first place? Seems lazy. For starters IF they are 'younger' versions of themselves then all jeopardy is lost as we know they'll survive.

For that reason alone surely that is a load of old bollocks, they cannot be that stupid.

The book is great. You're right about DeNiro and Pacino not crossing paths previously and without spoiling it, they won't here.

I'm pretty hopeful, certainly the talent involved is good enough to do justice to the original and the book.

It would be a great cast but just not for a film that noone asked for.
I have a sneaky feeling that it might bomb at the box office.

Rather than trying to reinvent the wheel, they should just leave the original, untouched, as it was with two great actors:

Who are still best mates today.
