2025/26 Adam Aznou

You can class it as that. I couldnt care. Kerkez/truffert is the obvious success but lucky them to have at least one recent. We're struggling if we're going back to baines/digne. I still watch their players who are prob not in the stand out signings mentioned still look more comfortable than say patterson.
We've major failed with fullbacks.
Is truffert doing that well? The two games I’ve seen him playing in, he wasn’t anything special. It’s also very early to say that’s a success after 7 games. He has 1 assist that was a 3 yard pass to a player who then ran half the pitch, taking on numerous players and scoring himself.

We payed 16m for Nathan Patterson when we were broke. Thats around the same as bournemouth paid for kerkez.
Recruitment.
No we didn’t. You really think we paid all the add ons for him when he hasn’t done anything for us?

Find it funny when people include all the add ons for transfers that don’t work out cause most of the time they only use the initial fees for transfers that do.

So he's been a crap signing at 11m or 16m.
Great stuff

Yeah he's been decent from what ive seen. Apart from the liverpool game. They've replaced the keeper and a few defenders and are sitting 4th in the table.
They bought ready to play. Something i think we needed to do.

Bet if you go through virtually every PL team they have punts at both those prices that haven’t worked out. Thats the gamble with younger players. Some work, some don’t.

Im quite surprised some want to defend or justify Evertons recruitment in the past 8 years in this position. Digne basically is the last fullback bought who offered anything going forward.
Its been poor. Id like to defend it but i cant. It is what it is.

Actually it's hard to think of any top flight team that has recruited worse than Everton in the last decade.
No idea how you could get it so wrong.

Thats my thinking. 8 years is quite a long time to have not signed at least one on either side who's been decent. Another subject i know but we're not producing anything remotely through the ranks either.

Garner (€10m), Tarkowski (free), Ndiaye (€18m), Gueye (€4m), Branthwaite (€1m].
Yes, I said very few not absolutely none but now that a few of you have pointed it out I realise that the reason we’ve gone from being the best of the rest to perennial relegation candidates and other clubs have gone from lower leagues to regularly finishing comfortably above us in the same time frame, is obviously because we’ve recruited better than them. It makes perfect sense.

I'd prefer to see him play a few games and then dismiss him rather than take the word of David Moyes on any player.
Definitely. I said this when he was first signed, he’s a promising young player and provided he is supported and given time to adapt it will be an interesting option. If everyone was thinking he’d be ready from the off in a new league, a bit naive perhaps

Languishing with U21 is not a positive move for the player either as evidenced by the demolition vs Bradford - you can see from the highlights the lack familiarity, understanding or rhythm between players. Whether that is down to Tait or what Everton expect from the U21 is unclear but he needs quality minutes not just 90 minutes

Convinced his camp is trying to find him a loan out as Moyes historically is more about results than development of young players - perhaps Aznou & his agent should’ve researched Moyes more but he may actually be further behind in the pecking order than he was at Bayern much less at Barça. Doesn’t breed confidence and surely player is questioning the move along with Moyes

Moyes makes decisions primarily on a political basis: on how much control or lack of control over team affairs playing certain players offers him.

It's clear Aznou wasn't one he wanted, so he'll just freeze him out.

Just one of the many reasons Moyes is a disgrace.

Then there’s clearly a divide with sporting director on targets - never a good situation if club & coach are not on same page

You want your fringe players to shine against lesser opposition, be it in the cup or U21s and it's always a bit gutting when they not only don't, but are actively crap.

With that said, players have struggled on loan in the lower leagues and gone on to do well in the PL - I remember Barkley not pulling up trees on a couple of Champo loans (I want to say Preston and Sheff Wed?) before going on to do pretty well for us. And yeah, I also remember 999 other players who did crap on loan and were just crap and left for free.

Point being it *could* easily still go either way for him here, but my feeling is that Moyes isn't the man to steer him in the right direction. If he was to come good here I imagine it looks something like: Jan loan, we mutually consent Davey in the Summer and get someone suitably sexy in to replace him, and Double A gets preseason and gets off to a flyer 26/27 before captaining us to Champions League glory in 2033/34.
