Otherwise a lucky 1-0 win against Fulham at home after a crap performance would be just the same as a 1-0 away win to the RS playing them off the park. We used to be one of the richest and most prestigious teams in the country. We used to be able to sign the absolute top players like Dean, Lawton, Kay, Ball, Latchford, Dobson, Lineker etc. Those days are long gone and are never coming back. It's pointless and counter productive to refer to them or to use them as a stick to beat the current management with. It's like harking after the days of empire. He sets up the team in a way which he thinks gives us the best chance of winning away at a big side. We have rarely had lightening pace on the counter attack which is how nearly all of the lower budget teams get there occasional wins away at the big 4.

I think it's ridiculous to have champions league aspirations or expectations with a bottom half budget. It's embarrassing and deluded and potentially extremely destructive because we will get rid of people doing a good job in the mistaken belief that a unicorn exists who will overcome several levels of football economics.
