2025/26 Jordan Pickford

Get in, most important player of the 2020s easily, love him, hope this contract makes him top earner because he actually deserves it (as long as we can afford it and all that obviously)

100% he'll be top earner (apart from Grealish on loan). Unlike the majority of tat we've witnessed over the years on ridiculous wages, Pickford has improved year on year and there's not many weeks where any of us could say "he hasn't earned his wages today"

Some of the hate online for him is so strong. He must be one of the most dispised players in the league for some reason. Just a quick read through the BBC Sport page of him signing a new deal is enough to make you wonder why the bile towards him.

Its really weird. The tide has turned a bit in the last few years as people have suddenly realised he is a very good keeper and regarding England pretty much kept them in tournaments.
Lots. And i mean lots of the hate online comes from two clubs. Liverpool and Newcastle.

Yeah the tricky reds despise him, very weird. Even their talented players I can’t bring myself to “hate”, as they say is a reflection of self.

Because the country's two most entitled, pious, and self-aggrandising fanbases hate him. They're not used to being stood up to.

I've only ever heard stick from Liverpool and Newcastle and he deals with it so much better than he used to. When he played against Newcastle ~6 years ago, he couldn't cope with it and would be all over the pitch, he's so much better at managing that and it's improved his all round game. He's really been outstanding over these last four seasons.

Because of the Van Dead tackle probably. Many still dragging out the"accident waiting to happen" line for England, though it never happens.
But, slowly but surely, I have noticed the tide is turning. Particularly amongst journos.

We’re not a PL club without him. Simple as that in my view. I think he’s been the best keeper in the league since Ancelotti brought him back after dropping him for Olsen. Ederson and Allison started to make a lot more errors, in high profile games too, and Allison has had more and more injuries. Martinez blows very hot but then goes extremely cold with some horrendous errors. Raya has only just emerged last few seasons. Donnuruma might surpass everyone but is only new to the league.

For consistency and big game moments there has been no one better than Pickford. His peak in that final run in under Lampard was the best stretch of goalkeeping I’ve seen from anyone in this league for a long long time."
"Donnuruma might surpass everyone" STOP PRESS!
Did you see his howler the other night for Italy against Estonia?
Imagine if Pickford had done that!
