2025/26 Jack Grealish

Love him. Seems a great lad, ultra talented at the basics. Instant control every time, clever delicate passes lifted over outstretched legs, fools players with body movement and weight shifts instead of stepovers.

But at some point, we may have to accept that not bringing him in, leaving Illy on the left, and buying a proper ready to go, pacey right winger would probably have got us more goals and points.

We aren’t carrying Grealish. But we haven’t the quality to maximise what he offers. Other than KDH, everyone just puts their hands on hips and says “go on lad, on your own.”

The club wanted a quality player as a bit of statement, and he is certainly that. A manager is never going to turn down a player like him when told it’s doable. But we already had enough square pegs in round holes. Ndiaye is added to that list (yes he has played there for Senegal, but he was effective for us on the left - different team). Now we are talking about trying Grealish in the middle, or Ndiaye up top, KDH deeper.

The joy of seeing Grealish in our kit enjoying himself for the first time in ages has already turned to frustration and everyone saying what he does wrong.

He should just clearly be in the middle imo. Harsh on KDH but would mean that Ndiaye would be in his most effective position and Dibling could be brought into the team.

Grealish would have more movement around him and we would be a lot less predictable, he could get on the ball just as much as he does now if not more, but would have options either side instead of being stuck isolated on the wing where he's easily nullified

Would prefer him central tbh, the ball keeps floating left cause thats where he is, but if hes central suddenly the ball is closer to goal, and fouls are more likely to create a direct free kick and goalscoring opportunities.

Tend to agree with this tbh. The likes of Bournemouth and Brighton bring players in that fit exactly what they are trying to do.

We bring players in and then try and work out how to best utilise them. I thought that aspect would improve with the new regime, but has actually got worse.

I'd be interested to see what they're classing as a chance for those figures.
Doesn’t seem to tally with out middling ‘xG’

Agree 100%. We have players like KDH and Illy and, to an extent, Jimmy G. and Dibling who will create space for him (as long as they are up there in support) and offer Jack a bit more time and opportunity to get into the box in a central position to either get shots away or force defenders into making rash challenges...not that I expect we will ever be awarded penalties because it doesn't fit the PL narrative as far as Everton are concerned.

Agreed. I was saying this last season about Alcaraz and kept getting shouted down. People kept saying the price made it a no brainer and we simply had to make it permanent, but obviously that only applies if you're actually going to utilise him. £15m isn't a bargain if the manager doesn't want to use him, it's money that could have gone on someone to fit what he actually wants.
