2025/26 David Moyes

I think 12th would be hugely disappointing. To put it bluntly, paying grealish 200k a week to take you one place higher in the table is an unimaginably stupid thing to do, there is just no excuse for doing that type of thing and if that’s the clubs aim it just shows we’ve not learned anything.

The recruitment thing is hard to call at this point. There’s still time for Barry and dibling to become fixtures in the side this season so it’s impossible to say right now whether they were the right moves or not. Aznou it seems to me like he’s further away than they expected, I find it hard to believe that either Moyes or anyone else involved thought it was a good idea to spend that money on someone who they say is ‘a fair way off’ at this point.
I think we've gotten confused over aim and expectation again.

If the only signings we've made that are getting the team are KDH and Grealish on loan then I'd expect 12-10 but I'd hope for 8-10.

Grealish is great but it's not a massive amount of difference from last year and we did well to finish as high as we did.

I'd be judging him a lot harsher if the players we signed were ready to slot right into the team and he wasn't getting a tune out of them but I am scratching my head today at how we actually went about planning and prioritizing signings this past window.

Did they expect Dibling, Barry and Aznou to be months away from starting? If they knew that from day one then it's harsh to expect a massive amount of improvement on last year. If they didn't know that then we need to be asking questions why we settled on these specific players who aren't making an impact.

You can only do so much in one window. It’s being disingenuous if you ignore the exodus of players in the summer. It takes time to build a squad.
why don’t people see the whole thing?

so we was good a few weeks ago

now we can’t/ score missing chances

it’s moyes fault and needs sacking

when we beat palace all the moyes bashers don’t deserve the joy

it’s all or nothing you take the bad and the good!!!!

We dont need Moyes to stabilise us anymore.

Take a good look around at the changes at this club off-field. Does a club laying down a cool £100M in a summer window and presenting this new image to the world really look like we require a manager to hunker down and get safe?
Are we going to ignore completely where we have been, and ignore the fact that we are far from where we want to be.

I want us to progress, grow and get better the club needs stability and time to grow from the doldrums where Dyche took us to!!

The owners picked there man for whatever reason, his form since he come in has been excellent and no reason to change that. Yes it’s not perfect but it never is.

But back to my original point and the reason we started this conversation, Bellews comments about him believing Moyes is going to deliver for us. I believe he will to, just my opinion.

Problems are pretty simple. We just do not have enough good players. We know the coaching will be professional at the moment so, as is usually the case, it is the deficiencies of the players to carry out the plan that is the real issue.
I agree, we are a two full backs and a goal scorer short of being a really good team. I actually think if we had a goal scorer we could properly get over the lack of fullbacks although it is hurting us.

I do however understand fans frustrations with Moyes subs, he seems very reluctant to use his bench!

100m?

That buys you 1 really good player, its nothing money, certainly not enough to make a team go from Relegation fodder to CL.

For context Roberto Martinez spent 115m over 3 years and managed to take the club from 5th to 12th.

Good point, do the Moyes badgers ever offer up their expectations? Don’t think we’ve finished top 10 since Silva and that includes us having Ancelotti as manager, in fact since Moyes left I think we’ve finish top 10 three times. The last 1/2 decade relegation has been seriously considered/talked about by our fan base, and now, all of a sudden we should be going at 1.5-2 points a game. Utter straw man.

I didnt want Moyes back, absolutely didn’t, but when he came back he made a difference undoubtedly. I was looking forward to seeing what he could do with Grealish, Ndiaye and KDH in the team, but the old flaws in his managerial style that made me unhappy to see his return are resurfacing. He can be incredibly one dimensional, to the extent that you can set your watch on the times he will make his subs (usually at 82 minutes). He will also play a certain way long after every opposition manager has sussed him out.

A good manager develops a style that works and applies it relentlessly. A very good manager recognises when that style is ineffective and has an alternative (less preferred style) that he will apply. Moyes does not have that alternative style, he isn't as dogged as the Russel Martin’s of the world, but when you compare him with the likes of Glasner at Palace they are chalk and cheese.
100% the new moyes when he first came back was making subs, more attacking, more honest in interviews

Now its the favourites, not making subs, dour in interviews, throwing cups away…everything i hated about him is back and i feel its hear to stay

You can bet that if we appointed that fat necked bellend at Bournemouth they would be saying "He needs a few seasons to judge".

People hate Moyes, he was always on a hiding to nothing, 4 games without a win is like catnip to these people, most will be wearing a Palace shirt on Sunday, ive been there, so I understand, just wish they would be more honest about it.
