Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning all. Yesterday was a trip to Rhodes Town on the local bus. It was full of tourists all having the same idea. We had a walk round the harbour which is one of my most favourite places and had lunch. We also went on a little hour long boat trip on a replica 18th Century boat. That was fun. A pattern appears to be developing though. Neither of us had any idea how to get back to the bus terminal or what number bus! We got a taxi back 🤣.
The room next door to us is now occupied by a couple in their 80s. We were chatting to them across the balcony and discovered that they are from Liverpool and live in St Michael's near the old Garden Festival site. This is very familiar territory for me - and will be for any of the South Liverpool gang who post here. We spent the night drinking with them. They met at the Grafton 43 years ago, second marriage for both of them- she is a retired Civil Servant.

Morning. It's a bit cold today, winter jacket time on walks in the morning and shorts by tea time, very weird lol.

I'm feeling a bit low and it's mad how much it can affect everyday tasks, I just don't have the energy or inclination to do anything. I'm also finding the negativity a bit much, I struggle enough without reading how the sky is falling constantly.

So I bought some meat from an online butcher called "The Meat Man" and the quality of it wasn't as good as I expected, especially the pork loin steaks which are very very thin. I am going to give different ones a try rather than pay supermarket prices, although the meat I normally get from tesco is of better quality than this one. Next I'm trying "Best Meat UK"

Sorry for the veggies here, I enjoy meat.

Daisy is ok, not much phases her, she's still a little nob 'ed who takes the mick on walks, now autumn is coming, the flopping down and rolling around should stop soon.

That's all I've got, such is my exciting life.

We have a card here and I am used to it now ,I actually think it is no harm for those who want to pull their weight and be legal . It will stop multiple claims for unemployment and other benefits that used to occur when I was in the UK.I remember some Nigerian families borrowing their friends kids to claim family allowance .That kind of thing would stop .
I don't have a problem with it
Well for starters it is legally unenforceable in NI. Nothing has been learned from Brexit evidently that blanket approaches to borders and nationality do not work here.

In a move designed to try and wrest some momentum back from Reform, they have already attacked it as an infringement of civil liberties. Watch how they now link this with the open border in Ireland and it is a headache Starmer has made for himself.

Are you staying at Marnie's hotel?

The bus terminal is just outside the old city wall by the tourist information point - bit late now but you could have messaged me 😂

Who'd have thought it - virtually near neighbours to you .....and who admits to meeting in the Grafton ? Very brave.

Have a brilliant time.

Is there much of a saving with the online butchers? I didn’t even realise there was such a thing but it’s common sense really when you think of how prevalent grocery home delivery is now. I think I live in a bubble at times.

here's the ones I've been looking at. bestmeat is the one I'm trying next.

I did want more local but there's non that do deliveries apart from one but that one won't give you a delivery time, which is no good, if I'm out with daisy i'll miss it. Actually there's one in Ulverston but hasn't got a massive range from what I've seen.

The hamper packs look very good value to me. If you have decent freezer space they work out very economical over a few weeks.

My view is if you’ve nothing to hide you’ve nothing to fear but I think I am massively simplifying it. I have a passport, a driving licence, an online nhs account - I’d be interested to know why this is more problematic but tbh I’m avoiding anything political at the moment to keep my stress levels down.

Pretty much where I'm at but I readily accept that I don't understand the nuances of living in NI @Armaghtoffee

Good to hear from you. I avoid the news too it mainly upsets me and sets me off on a rant which does nothing for my stress levels. Hope you are able to find a decent online butcher. No need to apologise for eating meat I don’t have a problem with it - I’m the only veggie in my family.
