Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Some of you clowns should be studied.
Is that not what this is?

Maybe the strategy is scattergun, I don't know.

But we never seem to have things worked out with players/agents before transfer window opens.

Most deals are done months ago.

We seem to wait until season ends before we start doing any work on deals.
We had very unusual circumstances this year. We hoped Thelwell would stay, he didn’t. Kinnear joined 1 June, Hammond 3 weeks later. Two new guys have yet to join. Our preparation cannot have been what you would want in these circumstances. This window is compromised and haphazard at least in part due to circumstances. However the rest of this window goes it is not necessarily a good insight into how the new team will work moving forward.

We have spent £52m (+£10m add-ons) so far. Let us assume we are willing to spend £35-40m each on two attackers and for the sake of argument another £20-30m on a mix of cheaper guys, loans and frees (signing on fees!) to bulk out the squad in midfield, RB etc. That is in the region of £150m as a transfer budget with only £4m or so in for Maupay. It isn’t really a money issue it is more of a needing so many players at once and having to juggle the budget issue.
The reality has changed, prices have gone up since last time we had money. 150 millions is the bare minimum really...we probably would need to spend well over 200 millions to have a competitive team that can qualitfy for Europe. And this is because the state of the squad...our only valuable asset are probably pickford and Braithwaite...it is a big big rebuild job that will take some serious money.

I’m certain Fofana would be playing on the right for EFC
That would be bizarre, given about 10% of his career appearances have been in that position.

It would be a very strange choice to spend loads of money on a player and then ask him to play in a position he barely ever plays.

Touché, but I think that one is a combination of N'Diaye being a bit more versatile in the first place and Dyche not knowing to do with the number 10 he'd been given
He’s a great example as not only did he move, he moved at a more advanced age than we’re talking about with Fofana.

They wanted 100 million a few months ago.

They where a PL side then, now they lost upwards of 70 million in revenue, he an asset which I’m guessing is pure profit??? Is he an academy product?
The rules are tighter in the lower leagues

Yeah, I'm not saying it's impossible but I am saying that you don't typically go and spend massive money on someone and then get them to play out of position.
