Fair play and I get your point.

Thought he looked poor in the first 20 mins of the second half last night, kept giving the ball away which is a crime for a CM and I went to bed when we went behind.

However I’ve not seen enough of the lad to form an opinion on him, last night was certainly nothing to go by or get unreasonably excited about from what I saw.
Exactly, that is my sole point. Yet some people are claiming he is better than all of our other midfielders and some people think he will definitely play for England. Hard to tell whether they are just youngsters getting overexcited.

  1. Adam Farley
  2. Jamie Milligan
  3. Phil Jevons
  4. Danny Cadarteri
  5. Matt McKay
  6. Peter Clark
  7. Kevin Mcleod
  8. Nick Chadwick
  9. Bjarni Vidarson
  10. Lukas Jutkiewicz
  11. James Wallace
  12. Kieran Agard
  13. Luke Garbutt
  14. Conor McAleny
  15. Apostolos Vellios
  16. Joe Williams
Another 16. Not even gone back to the 90s yet.

Hahahahaahaha what the hell is this list at all, who rated Joe Williams and Bjarni Vidarsson at 18?

Can’t say i disagree.

However, put your crash helmet in as your about to be attacked from all sides for that claim about 50 players.

To be fair you brought it on yourself 😂

Why would you think that? I'm an Everton fan. I want him to succeed as much anyone else. I haven't said he will fail. I've just said I would need considerably more evidence than there is at the moment to think he has all of this potential people are talking about. He's just a kid at the moment being given minutes for the first team in preseason in the way the 30 odd other players I have named were. He hasn't done anything yet to make me excited though. If others have a lower bar that's fine. I remember Jose Baxter beating half of the Forest team in a pre-season game and putting it in the top corner aged about 16. He obviously didn't make it. People are just desperate for any hint of good but if I seem wham being chatted I am going to call it out.
Was only messing. He's got a long way to go, personally think he looks very mature for his age, decent passer, apparently very good athletically and had a good loan at Derby in a relegation scrap.

Plenty have plateaued and never kicked on, all about attitude so lets hope he can.

Its tricky as while he looks great imo the best move for his development would be a loan somewhere in Europe to play 90 mins every week.

If we're struggling to afford players though I would imagine it becomes very tempting to roll the dice on him this season and redirect money for a cm towards getting a wide player through the door.

Holland in a possession based team would be best for him. I'm not sure he's good enough on the ball to be a 10 and I don't think we could risk playing him further back at the moment based on what I've seen in pre-season.

It is tricky as DM rates him - we could blow a good few million on a player worse than him he & Gana got the best reviews from last night he needs to bed in he won't do that on loan !

Yeah Eredvisie or Bundesliga I think he would do very well in I think. Has really good fundamentals but you could see he slightly struggled with the pace of the game at times vs wham.

I feel like we struggled for possession with him in, but he hasn't seen enough time to fairly judge him on that criticique. He would have to see a bit more time before I can write him off as not ready. I do think his assist was special for someone his age. Not many young players have that kind of patience to wait an eternity for the play to build up. The vision was great. I think he will ultimately end up staying and see cup games plus get some league minutes here and there. May need to work on his positioning. People slate Garner but we seem to be in more control when he is available. Obviously Branners gives us more control in games too as we can afford to gamble a bit further down the pitch. That would make it easier on him.
