I love seeing the African cup of nations being thrown as an deterrent in signing a player , we're in dire need for additional players. I think the focus should the focus should be on signing quality players at the time being and if that becomes an issue later on, bring in additional player in Jan to fill the void
They go to Afcon mid December so by the time you get these January reinforcements it’ll be too late. It might not be a total deal breaker for the right player but it does need to be considered and planned for, it’s a good number of games.

No offence like but that’s a terrible plan. You do have to factor in how many games a player will be available for when deciding whether they’re a good signing or not. Going out and spending more money 6 months later because you hadn’t actually thought things through is how you end up being the sort of basket case we’ve been in recent years.

Apparently the club weren’t to fussed about loosing Small because Smith was so highly rated, we really lost some top young players under the last regime.

The academy brought in a huge amount of money.
Cannon, Simms, Gordon, Small, Robinson and Samuels-Smith are all academy players which were sold and have had decent careers since. Some have done better than others of course, but all could have offered us squad options. That being said, I am glad that Gordon left.

Nathan Broadhead looks like he’s heading to Wrexham for 7 mill as well mate.

I won’t hold my breath on this number.
Well it needs to happen, imagine playing 10/15 games with Tim in the 10, so far he hasn’t proved he’s up to prem level in his own position, never
Mind in the 10 role. And McNeil is a waste of space on the right

Only 2 of them could realistically be called a ‘loss’ to the squad at this point and one of them earned us £40m+ in a deal we’d have taken at pretty much point in our history.

I agree with you that their are only two who we could say would have competed for starting places. However, I would have liked to have given Tom Cannon a better chance as he was a player who I enjoyed watching at youth level and he also had a strong loan spell at Preston North End. Since leaving us, he has done well in the Championship but has dropped off a little at Sheffield United, where he has had injury difficulties.

I wasn’t averse to the idea of giving cannon a go when he was here but the fact is he’s been at a premier league club twice and made no impact at all at either. It doesn’t make him crap or mean he can’t learn and get better later, but there’s very little to suggest he would actually have done anything here if he’d stayed.

Why would Tim play 10/15 games in the 10? He’s like 4th choice there already.
Because you have him down as cover, I’m talking if we get injuries. And an injury to our new right winger, puts McNeil on the right and Tim as back up 10 according to you.
Anyway it just shows how we can’t let that happen and I’m sure Moyes knows that
