Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Watching him in the under 21s he's a direct runner who prefers cutting inside from the left so not the right winger we need. His end product isn't great either so the fans will be frustrated by him I'd wager. For the price quoted I think we should look elsewhere

He either played on the right or through the middle with Ipswich.

Maybe we can put together a Championship All Star squad of players in their prime like James, Gustavo Hamer, Solomon. Would suit us well...in the Championship.
I hope so - like Jags, Lescott and Baines. Such a weird snobbery about signings sometimes, Im glad Moyesy hasn’t got it - and that Kendall didn’t have it either. I mean, even Reidy and Andy Gray had played in the division below the season before we signed them.

Can someone tell me why we might want Grealish on loan? Of all the players we might look at, why the hell?

Surely we a) don't have the money to fund him and it would be stupid to waste any that we do have, when someone like him is not our priority b) he's not some kind of prolific goal scorer - which we need obviously - so wouldn't money spent on a very pricey loan deal be better spent on permanent deals for other positions?

Isn't this a case of wanting some kind of "money signing" to show off in our bright, lovely stadium? Surely Moyes wouldn't be keen on this.

I really don't get it and I hope it doesn't happen
Not really having a difficult time at city and ofc we would have to keep in in line with other deals here. Depends what city looking for say was no loan fee but we paid 150 or 175 a week. Most clubs would find it hard to match his wages, i think would add a level of creativity we dont have. But if in for him would really have to be a moyes choice because of the price. Hard see it getting done but it can depends on city
The mail reckon we want Omari Hutchinson

Did read he was signed for 20 mill so maybe could be a release fee in his deal for about 30 mill, is a risk as didnt really show enough. But could also say that season could have done him good shower what to work on ect

Dan James: 27, Championship
Hamer: 28, Championship
Solomon: 25, Championship

Jagielka: 23, Premiership
Lescott: 22, Championship
Baines: 21, Premiership

Current age or age when acquired, prior season's league.

It's not the league, it's the age and the league.

Opinions and all that, but I'd 100% opt for Doak. Far more end product and a better football brain
Not sure about Doak having ‘far more’ end product. 10 goal involvements in 1789 minutes in the championship compared to 16 in 2179 for Hutchinson suggests there’s not much evidence to support that. It is all about opinions, but not when you bring in things that are quantifiable.

Hutchinson meant to have 35 mill release fee in his deal, would think doak would cost less but depends what moyes and the xluh think if is the club first choice in that position.

Definately is alot of talent in that league have seen it with other clubs is players younger who would be worth more of a risk like hackney at boro. Maybe hamer could be worth a shot for a squad option if the club think he is good enough for a good price. But agree with you dont really see much about the three names

Where we are at right now, I would not buy a player aged 28 or over. And certainly not one from a lower league. "Frees" can still have value at that age and above.

We need to find value in younger players when shelling out fees to other clubs. When we get closer to the top 4, then you can judiciously start to add players who are in their primes or coming down from it.

Everytime ive seen him he has a tendancy to want that extra touch or hold onto the ball for to long. Every now and then will be abit of quality but not enough to warrant considering over players like Doak or Fellows

Gray was what? 27? 28? Reidy 26? It’s not the league or the age - it’s the quality and the desire. I think we need to stop thinking weak premiership players make better signings that strong championship ones.
