Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

The manager should be the main voice in transfers with everybody else acting as facilitators and idea generators.

I like the concept of a small group of people acting collaboratively. There is too little time and too much information for the manager to do it, although they obviously have a pivotal role.

The nod to data analytics in the new structure is revealing. It doesnt confer an advantage anymore but it's a must-have. We'll never know the ins and outs but if Moyes was dead set on a certain player and the data suggests otherwise, who wins out?

We've been burnt badly in the last decade there is no foolproof way to do it but hopefully we have learned how not to do things as a start.

Seen a rumour about Tyler Dibling for £50m. I know nothing about him except he was a major part of the 2nd worst ever Premier League team. Anyone rate him?

Extremely highly rated at youth levels and by players and coaches at Southampton. Both footed, good dribbler. He actually reminds me of a young version of Grealish. We don’t have the money to punt £50m on potential though.

Stopped reading at £50m. Probably worth that in the current market...for "elite" clubs that can pay those sort of prices for talent.

We have to cut our cloth accordingly.

Saw him a few times last season and he has flashes of quality for sure
£50mil is taking the Michael though

Looks to have huge potential and needs to be playing in a more direct playing side.

I'd think £35-40mil gets the deal done with some insane add ons.

Highly highly doubt we do anything until July 1st.

We were very close to PSR limit and despite fees being able to be deferred the agents fees/signing on fees would be this set of accounts as far as I’m aware.

Any point hoping for patience in here? Like driving through the baboons at the safari park.

Are you in the Delap 'fake bid' camp...

Aka The Shearer money?

No I think we probably did make a bid for him, if he’d accepted our terms I’d say it would have been a July deal with an agreement that he and his agent wouldn’t be paid until then either.

Same seems to have happened with Alcaraz.

See if I’m wrong and we sign anyone before then.

The manager should serve the long term vision of the club.
Managers are always temporary , they either fail to achieve targets or succeed well enough to be offered a better job elsewhere.
The manager serves the club , not the other way around.
We have seen how relying on managers exclusively for strategy and direction can backfire dramatically when they depart Ferguson at Man. U and Moyes here.
Clubs must have an overall strategy and style which the manager is employed to implement to the best of his or her ability .
