Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

That article in the Athletic yesterday made for very positive reading about the new structure and the people we've hired to fill these positions. It does feel like there's a plan in place, which is great to see.

The one thing I'd say as a note of caution is that some of these people won't come in until after the transfer window closes. There's a huge amount of work to do this summer and we are doing it with half a management structure in place. Having a successful window is going to be a huge challenge.

Medium term, I'm reassured we have a structure and a plan. Short term it might be a bit "seat of the trousers" stuff. Be lovely if I'm wrong about the last bit.

I have these concerns too but I guess in respect of Nick Cox his impact will be felt more over the longer term. He will not be part of this committee anyway if I'm correct. The Athletic piece suggested a further appointment, Head of Football Operations is still to be made.

I also imagine James Smith whilst on gardening leave will still be able to have input this summer if not on a formal basis.

It does point to Moyes being in the driving seat as you imagine Smiths appointment was driven by him as Hammonds by Kinnear.

I hope that doesn't point to two camps within the structure as you might often see between Manager and DoF more traditionally but it really shouldn't.

I like the flatter structure in that it should allow for a rigourous process for transfers whilst not being too big so as to cause paralysis in decision making.

I don't think it will be truly democratic as that just doesn't happen in groups. Moyes and Kinnear (for the financing) will be the drivers in terms of pushing through / blocking signings I'd expect and the dynamics will be in how the others can influence them.

No problem . Once others get the same punishment thats ok

You've been here 17 years pal, if you think I'm picking on you - you're a bit late.

Remember - volunteers aren't going to detect every instance of every post, nor action every one. Context is key - the context here, is 3 people reported your squabbling, and this is a particularly active thread.

Now, you can accept the "pack it in" at face value, or you can continue to waste moderator time by trawling through the keyword "bellend" and reporting multiple posts. It wont end well though, because I'll then do the same to you, and your warning count will very quickly trigger a permanent ban.

Play the game.

The bedwetters aren't going to love the fact that recruitment responsibilities are so spread out.

I do think that this structure works better for someone like Moyes who wants more of a say in stuff than others we've had here, without giving him total control.

The manager should be the main voice in transfers with everybody else acting as facilitators and idea generators.

I think that depends greatly on who the manager is. I don't mind it in this instance given who the manager is and the circumstances, but I think there's plenty of managers knocking about who are better working with players rather than identifying new ones.
