Transfer Rumour Kyle Walker

I wish we had a few more average journeyman like Tarkowski who is an excellent captain into the bargain.
I don't disagree, many of our players in recent years have been below average, hence us consistently finishing in the bottom half of the table That doesn't change the fact that Tarkowski is, in the grand scheme of things, a fairly average player at this level. It's not a criticism of him, simply a realistic assessment of what he is.

That's very harsh on JT mate, wouldn't agree here with you at all, i think he's brilliant, one of our best and most influential players.
It's not harsh at all. He's a bloke who's spent the huge majority of his career in the bottom half of the PL and has won less England caps than Michael Keane, I don't know why people are acting like he's a world class talent. It's not a criticism of him, being an average PL player is a bloody good level, and is more than I would say about many of our players. He's possibly even slightly above average, but that doesn't really change the point at hand in any way.

Agreed. I like Tarkwoski but he’s not even near the levels Jagielka and Lescott reached for us and that was in a team that finished a mighty 5-7th place. England have been struggling for CBs recently and his name isn’t even in the conversation.

He’s been a very good free signing for us and played well for the style of football that was needed at the time, but he’s also a big reason why we can’t progress to a more attacking style playing a higher line. If a top CB is someone who is quick, good on the ball, strong, positionally perfect, and good in the air, then he’s got 3/5 which is a bit over average.

Exactly. He's perfectly fine and has done well for us, but people bristling at the idea that he's not top class can't have watched many decent centre halves play.

In you're opinion - i mean hes rocking out in the higher percentile of PL defenses.

You can apply that to anyone though.

As a bar, I'm not sure England caps are indicative - Branthwaite for example.

By those parameters Illiman Ndaiye is a bang average, journeyman player, who didn't make the grade for England or France for that matter.
