Forget all the players supposedly "linked," "tipped," and of which Everton are "aware." Let's take a moment to feel hopeful about this:
Everything points to an ambitious team with a record of finding quality talent for real value, both as players for the club and as future sales. They were unlikely to make moves during the first short window, especially while still assembling the team that would make things happen, but this leadership team should inspire some confidence. I think the only position left is football operations.
- Angus Kinnear, CEO
- Chris Howarth, head of strategy (The Friedkins also bought his data analytics company, Insight Sport.)
- Nick Hammond, trades and negotiations
- James Smith, director of scouting
I hoped Steve Walsh would find another Mahrez, Kante and Vardy in Italy that time.
It’s the hope that kills ya.
