Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Chelsea have announced which players they are taking to the Club World Cup and Chilwell and Chukwuemeka have been left out, we were linked with both in January, Chilwell went to Palace on loan instead and Chukwuemeka went to Dortmund on loan.

We are being linked again, I think a transfer for Chilwell would be difficult becasue of his wages, hes got 2 years left and on £190k a week, but a load could be very good, hes a really good fullback

Chukwuemeka is a good player, but on £100k a week it might be difficult for us to justify that wage on a player who has talent but is largely unproven but a loan for him could give us an extra body in there, he can play as an 8 or 10 so could replace Doucoure.
Chilwell is the biggest sick note in the league

Surely cannot be any worse than Young.....

On a free let's go for it.

Don't get me wrong I would love much better fb's, and those who can get up the pitch and contribute.... however, based on the stats from last season defence isn't really the problem.

Yes I know FB's are also integral to forward play and getting those goals, and this became more evident when they were allowed past the half way line when Moyes came in and no longer Dyche Ball.

If we can get an adequate full back in for free, which as i say, is better than the options we had last year then it is a step forward and we spend the limited money we do have on the goal creators/scorers and those which are going to help us keep possession in their half!
2 decent fullbacks completely transform us. Dunno why we have so much trouble finding them.

I don’t think we are going to be in the market for a ‘make-do’ right back unless we somehow get rid of Patterson, as we already have several players that can make do in that position. JOB, Patterson, Coleman, even Garner if really desperate. I do however see Moyes paying a significant fee for a quality right back, which is what we need.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if moyes spends money on a rb....from his first time with us I reckon he'll prioritise other areas and a signing like coufal wouldn't surprise me

This..... we have neglected this position for the past 4/5/6 seasons so not sure why this year would be any different, especially when the glaringly obvious hole for limited funds is the goals.

Mykolenko, Garner and Tarkowski all have contracts that end this time next year in summer 2026. I could see us letting Tarkowski's contract run down due to his age. But you'd expect a decision to be made on the other two this summer. If we aren't offering new contracts then we should be looking to sell imo.

Given the gaps we need to fill in the squad, RB is low priority. Cover at LB however is a higher priority, so I can see us getting wither a LB or utility full back (another Young so to speak). As mentioned above, we already have several who can cover RB, even if non are of the quality we would want, there are decent stop gap options there. I can see us getting a striker and right sided winger before we go after a fullback.
