Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I don’t think this is true in any way shape or form but I’ve had a message this morning saying that we’ve already signed Matt O’Riley from Brighton. Sounds like another WhatsApp rumour to be honest.

Can’t see it myself, he only joined last summer.
Think he would be great in our midfield.

Strong physical lad, with a great touch and clean in possession.

My only concern is the pace of the PL for him

I'm not advocating loaning Grealish but ignoring possibly Ndiaye, do we have a single winger who would have played 20 games for Man City last season (irrespective of whether starting or off the bench).

Going ultimate Muppet mode what I'd do is take Coufal on a one year deal as a back up. I'd loan out Patterson to see if he can get a full season of football behind him, and let Coleman go into the backroom staff (don't give a player contract). I'd then sign a proper RB to start. Leaves us in a good place for this season + moving forward.

Going ultimate muppet mode i'd sign O'Reilly from Brighton and loan him to Rangers.

I don’t know how it works for football clubs but in business sometimes it’s good to spend money in specific financial years to use up any allowance.

Not sure of that’s the case but maybe a cheeky deal to come in today.

WhatsApp rumour?
Yes I get messages on WhatsApp about rumours relating to the club. The lad who sends me these messages is in a group chat with somebody that works for the club in some capacity I think.

I had a message back in December saying that the Friedkins were at Finch Farm, it’s taken months to see if that was true but Virginia has stated in an interview recently that they were there just after the deal was agreed in December.

I take everything that he says with a massive pinch of salt. I don’t doubt my mate, he’s only doing the same thing I’m doing here and passing on little bits of chatter that are out there.

Wolves had Neves and Moutinho as their two in the middle for a number of years and neither one had a yard of pace between them, they were just both very good players. Way too much is made of the pace thing at times imo.

Coufal has been linked again today, he was interviewed on international duty about his future and he said his priority is to stay in England, which has fuelled the rumours he will be coming to us because of the links to Moyes. With Ashley Young going I dont think he would be a bad option, I still think Jake O'Brien will be first choice in that position, but we need a back up.
Not for me really need to be selling patterson his window and bringing in another rb. Who can actually offer a fight coufal would be simar to coleman for me, prefer kwp on a free or even somebody like the lad at coventry to build up to get into the team

For me is more important in wide areas of the pitch, i havent seen much of the lad but we do need some power in the midfield who can get up and down the pitch. I still want somebody like we had with onana

Ever play 5aside against a bunch of middle aged fellas who would just pass it around ya and not even have to run. Skill beats pace everytime. Problem comes when you play a system reliant on not having possession

The question is would you prefer Ndaiye or grelish, because (and it seems people forget this) they both are occupying the same position - LF/LM

I’m sure they COULD play other positions, but they’re both most effective in the same spot, which seems like a waste of limited resources given how we really need first team players in RF/RM, RB & possibly also LB
