Transfer Rumour Ben Doak

They`ve done it a few times where they have given a young lad a bit of game time and fleeced some lower team for big money, Ryan Brewster for Sheffield United is one of the recent ones. But at some stage they might start changing their ways and some good uns might be allowed to go for what works out as a bargain. They seem to be throwing their wage structure out the window with the new deals given to their ageing center half and their 32 year old play maker which is something they have not done in the past.

Yeah I agree they seem to be changing tack a bit on transfer strategy, but I still wouldn’t want to spend big on a youth player they don’t fancy at this point.

I can’t remember a time in recent history when Liverpool sold someone and it came back to haunt them. Young players who are deemed good enough get chances in their first team squad.

If they’re willing to let him leave, and to us of all clubs, I’d be very wary. Certainly wouldn’t be willing to spend anything close to £30 million for the privilege.
Doak has one year left on his contract and earlier this year a couple of clubs made a bid for him and the reds turned them down. I have no idea what players are worth and if the 30 million is 50% is if he hits targets, but I do think he is what we need. Having watched him quite a few times this year he causes havoc in the box.

Not fit enough to be involved with Scotland tonight. We need to learn from signings like Broja.

Take Tyler Morton as a case study, England U21 international, loved by Hull fans as much as Armstrong was for us at Derby.

Given his chance in centre mid Vs West Ham in a cup game for them and hooked off after 7 minutes.

Be very wary !

Doak looks electric (on youtube!).
Quansah looked superb for England u21s
Elliott I thought would be their next star
Bradley seemed the TAA replacement

I find it odd that these 4 havent been backed by the RS.

Of course theres a gulf between the championship or England u21s to the top places in the premier league...but its surprising that not one of those 4 (or Morton) has got a starting 11 place.

Are they levels below or are they just in need of regular games?

Very hard to judge.

TWO years left, not one.

I don't know much about any of these players, but I do know that Liverpool are in a position where they either can't or don't need to give players time to develop and grow and make mistakes they can learn from. They want and can afford players who have done that at other clubs and are ready to go straight into a side competing for four trophies. I have no idea if Doak and the others are good enough, but Liverpool letting them leave isn't a sign that they aren't; it's just that they aren't right now.

Have to agree with you, very few RS players who were highly rated have turned out that great, after leaving. RS whether we want to admit it, are a very well run club and will only let players go if they aren't needed. Its been a very long time, since RS have sold a player, whose ended up performing at club they've moved to.

Are you asking whether football club owners care what their fans think?

Of course they do - you only have to look at the millions they spend on PR.

How many transfers has there been between Man Utd and Liverpool since the Premier League began?

0?

I don't think there's been any since the 60s.

Weve signed one player from Liverpool in my lifetime and I've got an iffy back and grey hair coming through.

It's not a coincidence.

Doak only comes here if he digs his heels in that Everton are his preference, or we pay over the odds.
To be honest I don't think RS board or Slot care about Everton or see us a rivals and haven't done for a long time. Most of their fans at Anfield aren't Scousers and couldn't care less about us, it's only their Scouse fans who view us a rivals and Liverpool as a club couldn't care less about them. To be brutally honest, we have beaten them once at home in 15 years, we don't usually lose at home to them, but we almost never turn up at Anfield. They simply think in terms of business, nothing else.

I am not a doctor, but my understanding is that Doak is currently unavailable to prevent injuries in the future.

With hamstring injuries players are normally sidelined for a few weeks. Some players keep getting them and have their careers affected.

The trend seems to be that instead of letting the injury heal itself, we see more and more players have surgery and be sidelined for 3-5 months. De Bruyne was out second half of 2023 after hamstring surgery. Arsenal this season had Saka, Havertz and Gabriel out long spells after hamstring surgery. Even Tarkowski that never is injured had surgery to fix his hamstring.

Doak had surgery to be 100% instead of being rushed back and risk getting 2-3 hamstring injuries a season the rest of his career.
