Transfer Rumour Ben Doak

I can’t remember a time in recent history when Liverpool sold someone and it came back to haunt them. Young players who are deemed good enough get chances in their first team squad.

If they’re willing to let him leave, and to us of all clubs, I’d be very wary. Certainly wouldn’t be willing to spend anything close to £30 million for the privilege.

the £30m is because of his ceiling

he's got the potential to be a top level player

whether it's worth the gamble is another thing

but the price is because he's got the scope to be one of the best around for his position
Put a couple of his peers into their first team and they get beat by Plymouth Argyle.

Academies so I'm repeatedly told are not like the central league of it's day.

Players of any quality are in and around the match day squad.

Academies product on the whole is of championship standard at best with very rare exceptions.

30 million is an exceptional desperate gamble of a fee for such a player given better quality available for much less worldwide these days.

They`ve done it a few times where they have given a young lad a bit of game time and fleeced some lower team for big money, Ryan Brewster for Sheffield United is one of the recent ones. But at some stage they might start changing their ways and some good uns might be allowed to go for what works out as a bargain. They seem to be throwing their wage structure out the window with the new deals given to their ageing center half and their 32 year old play maker which is something they have not done in the past.

Take Tyler Morton as a case study, England U21 international, loved by Hull fans as much as Armstrong was for us at Derby.

Given his chance in centre mid Vs West Ham in a cup game for them and hooked off after 7 minutes.

Be very wary !
