Transfer Rumour Ben Doak

I am not a doctor, but my understanding is that Doak is currently unavailable to prevent injuries in the future.

With hamstring injuries players are normally sidelined for a few weeks. Some players keep getting them and have their careers affected.

The trend seems to be that instead of letting the injury heal itself, we see more and more players have surgery and be sidelined for 3-5 months. De Bruyne was out second half of 2023 after hamstring surgery. Arsenal this season had Saka, Havertz and Gabriel out long spells after hamstring surgery. Even Tarkowski that never is injured had surgery to fix his hamstring.

Doak had surgery to be 100% instead of being rushed back and risk getting 2-3 hamstring injuries a season the rest of his career.
Still a worry it being so early in his career. I think surgery is based on the grade of tear though anyway, like you I'm not a doctor so could be wrong on that.

Did Doak even play for Scotland last night?

I looked occasionally at the game as was on BBC2, they had a RW Lennon Miller. Looked competent on the brief glimpses I saw. No idea who he is like.

Doak has one year left on his contract and earlier this year a couple of clubs made a bid for him and the reds turned them down. I have no idea what players are worth and if the 30 million is 50% is if he hits targets, but I do think he is what we need. Having watched him quite a few times this year he causes havoc in the box.
If we actually had a similar academy prospect just back from injury prone loan move we'd prob struggle to shift for more than £3m. £30m seems massively excessive considering 1 year left on contract - big team tax at play!!
