It’s all just speculation at this point anyway, but if there is truth in the reports, for me, I am not sure you get any real value given the PL tax you have to pay (and for me it irks that we’d pay them) - I’ve not seen the guy at all, but my concern from the stats I’ve seen would be his injury record as well.

Doesn’t bother me where he comes from. Take your point about the injuries though, that’s a slight concern and a little off putting.

Agreed. The £30mil is outrageous based on his injuries.

I'd probably offer £15-£17.5mil with another £5mil-£7.5mil based on clauses. So £20-25mil all in.

Its outrageous because he isn't worth it full stop, he is a £12-15m player, City are about too bag Cherki for just over £30m who is one of the top youngsters in Euro football atm. Doak is levels below him and no way should we be paying a similar fee.

There's the issue. We can't attract the players we 'should' be after to improve the team and so the ones we can probably bring in are overpriced due to 'potential'.

Barry and Doak would be two interesting high potential signings, but overpriced by e.g 40-50%. The only positive there is that their wages should be lower.

Bakayoko apparently available for £20mil and also Mora from Porto could be used on the right. There are plenty of options on the right side.

Who would you be looking at for a similar fee to the Doak one?

Barry seems a decent shout, I'm not sure about the right side as it depends on what we want to do at RB. I'm not sure if we need a right sided playmaker type or more of a winger.

doesnt get you a lot sometimes ... if this kid has the potential to be great then 30m might not seem so bad

If we are going to spend that sort of money then Id rather look at Takefusa Kubo who is looking for a move to the PL at the moment according to reports.
