Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Marseille are a big club in France, but are they really much bigger than Lille? I am a bit surprised he hasn't ended up returning to England with the World Cup coming up, it would have been a prime opportunity to put himself in the reckoning (not that he doesn't stand a chance at Marseille, I just reckon his chances would have been better over here).
Miles bigger than Lille but I agree I thought he'd want to return to the Premier League

I'm not sure it's right that we don't take risks, it's more that too many of the risks we've taken haven't paid off. There's a bit of a boring, easily disproved, notion that we only sign players with PL experience but we've signed players from all sorts of places for all sorts of fees and not enough of them have made the desired level of impact. We need to get better at identifying talent and value in the market, where that talent and value comes from is irrelevant really.

It’s not even just the recruitment. Lookman and Moise Kean are both good players but couldn’t perform here for some reason.

Then there’s the injuries. There’s been far too many of that have robbed players of their careers here.

No one is thinking ‘I wonder if Wirtz will get injured and Liverpool will regret paying that money’ it’s not even a consideration. Meanwhile whoever we buy there’s an expectation they’re more likely to get injured and miss games than not.

Even this season Ndiaye McNeil Calvert Lewin Lindstrom Mangala Garner Coleman have all missed significant periods because of major injuries.

Club won’t achieve anything if it can’t keep its players fit.

Why did Kudus join West Ham? Why did Cunha join Wolves?
Kudus was playing in the dutch league, not even regularly starting, with Ajax going through a significant decline as a club, so he was always going to be looking for new opportunities especially as a younger player. Cunha himself experienced a loss of form the season he went to Wolves so he was just looking for playing time as well. Boniface is a regular starter if he leaves it's probably going to involve European football. Also he was out for 80 days due to injury in two continuous seasons so even if it was feasible, might not be the best move I think that's why he is available for 35 million

Would be surprised if he gets big wages at om. Will be decent but nothing we would have been able to match and even offer much more.

Need to start making decisions on the out of contract players very soon. It's difficult to plan our summer recruitment until we know who is staying. The start of the season needs to be the real deadline for us this year, not another year trying to sign multiple players in the last 2 or 3 days. Well organised clubs do not do most of their transfer business after the season starts.

Given the task ahead I would expect at least 2 in by the end of the month....
