Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I'm not sure it's right that we don't take risks, it's more that too many of the risks we've taken haven't paid off. There's a bit of a boring, easily disproved, notion that we only sign players with PL experience but we've signed players from all sorts of places for all sorts of fees and not enough of them have made the desired level of impact. We need to get better at identifying talent and value in the market, where that talent and value comes from is irrelevant really.
Agreed. What we have been poor at recently is finding those hidden gems for <10m and making them into 50m players.

Except for branthwaite.
And although Ndaiye was £16m (so a little above the threshold) I doubt we’d be letting him go for under £50m

But we need to be doing it a lot more (including not being up in arms about selling them) if we’re going to cross the void into the big boys.

Aye, Branthwaite was a good pick up but a rarity for us really. Hopefully Ndiaye and JOB are the examples we can follow from last season into the future. Both have increased in value I think.

Marseille are a big club in France, but are they really much bigger than Lille? I am a bit surprised he hasn't ended up returning to England with the World Cup coming up, it would have been a prime opportunity to put himself in the reckoning (not that he doesn't stand a chance at Marseille, I just reckon his chances would have been better over here).

100% woukd be a great player to have exactly the profile we need even with his age. Just have to make a sensible choice with money. Would improve the team imo
I see Palhinha is open to a move away from Bayern. He would be a great addition to our midfield especially for the period we have to cope without Gana during AFCON

Would love us to sign Dewsbury Hall.. think he’d be a great addition.
Would take him on loan with an option to buy does have talent and might be at an age now can show it in the prem.

Maybe enjoys Ligue 1 ?

They’re France’s second biggest club. And that’s only because the Arabs have bankrolled PSG for the last decade or so.

Wouldn't mind us going in for Victor Boniface. Rumoured asking price is about £35m. Whether he considers himself too good for us is another thing.
Victor Boniface who plays for Leverkusen? How is that remotely plausible? He plays in the champions League why would he come to a mid table team in the premier league?

Not many in the Championship last season that were, or look capable of the step up.

Only ones i can think of is the Burnley Centre back & goalie.

Otherwise in terms of forward talent in the Championship, there's not much there that's ready.

I do like Dolan at Blackburn, Fellows at WBA & Hackney at Boro....but none have had that 'best player in the league' season.
Dolan is a good shout even if his first name is spelt with a game of scrabble in mind
