2024/25 Charly Alcaraz

How is it a horrible deal from a PSR perspective?

The club have likely structured it this way to allow for flexibility around PSR. The option gives the club the ability to retain Charly, sell him for a profit, or extend amortization to reduce the annual financial burden if needed (e.g., if the club is close to the PSR threshold).

A big part of the club's recent woes had to do with overly lengthy contracts and no strategic planning to get around PSR. I bet we'll see more deals like this, at least until the financial situation is much more secure.
Is a horrible deal because as it stands, and not knowing his wages but assuming at least 3 millions per year, then that's 7.5 millions hit on psr for the next 2 seasons. If he had a 5 year deal, then that, and assuming 3 millions wage, then it goes down to 5.4 millions per season for the next 5.

2 years with an option to a 3rd shows we are finally being ran properly. Mosh would have paid twice the asking price, given him a 5 year deal on 120 grand a week and then wondered why his business was failing.

Add in Gana and its a cracking start to the summer rebuild.

What’s horrible is assuming Alcaraz would be paid almost twice Branthwaite’s wages. It’s more likely that in the interests of all parties, and with an eye to PSR, the club was given flexibility in structuring and optionally extending the deal and Alcaraz was given the incentive of a significant wage increase if the option were taken.

Charly will be at least on 40/50k a week...thats the normal rate for any pl player. Not sure how much jarrad is on.
