It's not my responsibility to name the better players.

I've seen Alvaraz and I can see he can have an influence over certain games at certain times. But he's never going to be the quality we need to get us where we want to go. And that's a key position to achieve that.

I'm surprised that we've had an extended period of time with him here and the club have now put their trust in him. That speaks volumes about ambition for me...or lack of.

It speaks volumes about you and your negativity about almost everything.

I was never a Doucoure basher.

If Alcaraz gets as many important goals for us as Doucoure did he'll have done well for himself.

Hopefully he doesn't miss anywhere near as many chances or simple passes as he did...

I take it like a test. If he do well will be extended. It's the same that happened before in Southampton in his first contract with them.

2 years makes sense. If things don't work out for whatever we aren't stuck with a long term contract.

It doesn’t make sense for the club. It affects PSR by only amortizing the fee over two years instead of 4-5.

This 2 year deal is totally bizarre and somewhat negligent.

Think there’s a logic to it mate, I just can’t work it out - bizarre from the club and player.

I haven’t seen TFG hand a contract out that wasn't any more then in and around 2 years so far - small sample granted!

I think we’ve got a bargain at £13M, he seems to be one of those players who doesn’t do so well first time around but proves himself as he gets older.

A little underwhelmed by the 2 years but at least we have a new player done quickly that we know can work & don't have to worry about settling in. He will be here & comfortable day 1 of pre season.

God, I'm not. I'm so tired of us giving mediocre players lengthy contracts only to find that mediocrity was the optimistic case and we get lumbered with ineffectual crocks.

Two years is plenty. If he's all that, we'll want to extend with a pay rise next summer. If no, we can get rid when the time is right.

Absolutely strange, not sure I've seen a 2 year deal for a young player before. It's got to include an option for a 3rd year, right? Otherwise that seems poor planning on the face of it.

I never doubted his appetite or character. His ability, however, was minimal.

I don't think we can demand ambition from these new owners while lamenting their unwillingness to extend Shrek's Donkey.
