Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Tammy Abraham, Moyes a big fan apparently.

In many ways, welcome home fella

Not sure if Wolves have an option or not but I think the lad on loan at Wolves this season Strand Larsen would be a good investment, was impressed with him in some games in the first half of the season, but thought he looked excellent second half of the season.

I think that Chelsea side he played in were all individuals and had no real team spirit, he always looked lost, like he didn't want to be there.
Be interesting to see what he'd be like in a Moyes team with the crowd onside.
Yeh, was enjoying life at Roma for a while, didn’t appear to enjoy Milan too much - it’s hard to say I guess. Moyes seems to galvanise players

Agreed. If they’re not making the difference at Utd, why would they suddenly give us a lift?

I like the John Giles description of most players as ‘joiner-iners’, most footballers play well when the team is playing well and poorly when it’s not going their way.

The real trick is to find players that lift their team, even if they’re not fancied players, if the team performs better with them than without them then that for me is the only stat worth looking at.
Yup, the great man was also on the money when he referred to such players as "sunshine boys" - players who thrived when the team was playing well, but hid when real leadership and impact in adversity was required.

We have had loads of sunshine boys over the years.

Giles's description could be used as the acid test of any player. In the modern club game, all the top sides have loads of quality. However, you can sometimes only really judge an outstanding club player at international level where the quality is lower and the so-called star is required to lift more mediocre players now that he is not surrounded by a foreign legion of fellow stars.

It's one reason England have won nothing in 60 years despite having their fair share of Champions League and European Cup winners. Bottom line: too many were made to look better by foreign superstars. Take them away, and they weren't able to make Jermaine Defoe and Graham Rix world-beaters - or merely better players than they were at international level.
