Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Some people believe in redemption, others don't... Who's to say who's right..
If the root cause of his problems is recurrent ankle injuries, as some have said, then that's a different situation. But if it's mental/social then I don't believe in writing off 20 year olds as lost causes, and to me it's a gamble worth taking.
It could start with a 6 month loan and sticking him in the u21s to start with.

Just to clarify, I'm definitely not the sort of person to write off someone suffering with mental health as a lost cause. I was speaking purely from a technical ability POV. I am just genuinely curious as to what people saw in his 3 starts last season to suggest there's still a player in there? Why haven't West Ham made the deal permanent? They've seen him in training...

Moreover, if we're signing "gambles", what sort of message is that going to send as a club? I think we all deserve better after the last few years in particular.

Difficult to see how that would be a good deal for any of the parties involved really.

Honestly, lads, what has Ferguson done in his 3 starts last season to keep him in your minds? I think he's a lost cause. Brighton want rid, West Ham don't want back. It's all for a reason...
Same people that probably thought Dele Alli still had a lot to offer

Someone could take Ferguson and get his right, and sort him out, but i feel that might have to come at a lower level.
To be honest someone like McKenna at Ipswich in the Championship wouldn't be the worst idea for him, its lower risk for someone like Ipswich than it would be for us.

No resale value at the end of his contract and high wages.

It's like people don't remember the Steve Walsh / Moshiri years at all.

Think grealish is a good player but not worth us ruining our wage system. A loan with decent wages is fine but i am not clamoring for this to happen

The only players from Man City I could realistically see us going in for are

Kyle Walker - last year of his contract, not wanted at city, not wanted at Milan, so a loan deal with them meeting a proportion of his wages isn’t unrealistic. We would get a RB we badly need, though I appreciate some think he’s over the hill, but compared to what we’ve had last few seasons he’s a young buck.

Mcatee - clearly not going to break into city’s team permanently, so probably the type of signing we should be looking at. Loads of potential, sell on value if he progresses.
Oscar Bobb and Nico O'Reilly would be great signings for us.

…..whilst it’s understandable for posters to mention their aspirational signings, I personally only consider any players we’re actually linked with regardless of how tenuous the source.

I did like the look of the young Danish RB playing in Turkey, a couple of CMs from French league and the 17yo Serbian CB. The 6ft 6in German striker also seemed popular from his YouTube clips.

Should be an interesting few months but hoping for innovative signings like these. Surprised we haven’t heard about DCL and Keane futures, given it looks like Gueye will be here next season.
