Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

What a change in the weather in the space of an hour. A nice walk in the sunshine ruined by torrential rain and VERY loud thunder and lightning.
Wish some of that rain would make it way over here!

Here's one for you AT ( and maybe @Barnfred 55 ?)

Received a lovely gift today - completely out of the blue - everyone else is doing it so why aren't we by The Cranberries - 25th Anniversary Edition remastered on vinyl.

Well as you guys know the most recent music in my collection is probably Prefab Sprout and whilst I'd heard of the group.id never actually heard them so I gave it a spin.

So, the production and remastering is off the scale. They must be the most Irish band I've ever heard ( neither a good or bad thing ) but really quite liked the music especially the female lead singers voice.

Maybe you can teach an old dog new tricks , but thinking about it this LP is probably the same vintage as Prefab Sprout 😂.

Have a lovely evening everyone.

They were huge here for a while and have had quite a renaissance with Zombie over the past couple of years.

The tragic death of Dolores O’Riordan was a real shock event in the country.

Cranberries were one of my favourite groups from that period. I have that album on CD, and their second, No need to argue, which in my opinion is even better. Zombie, on the latter album, is one of my favourite tracks of all time. If you like Dolores voice so much you may like Pale Waves. And there's a new band called Florence Road who's singer has the similar Irish lilt to her voice as Delores. They're yet to release their first album but they're already building a lot of traction and not just in Ireland.

Also you do realise that you've just referred to a 31 year old album as "new tricks"

Yep that sums me up mate 30 years behind the times.....BTW thought it was quite good but not absolutely wonderful.....a bit too rocky for my mellow taste.

Morning all, hoping @anjelikaferrett and @Barnfred 55 are feeing a bit better today. It’s another glorious day - sadly the rain didn’t make its way to us from Ireland. The garden could really do with it, especially @jazzy ’s beautiful garden which we had the pleasure of seeing on Monday afternoon. Off to fracture clinic this afternoon in Southport which I’m sure we’ll turn into a nice afternoon out if we are not waiting too long to be seen. Not building my hopes up though.
Hope everyone has a lovely day 💙

I'm still not really feeling the effect. Certainly no worse than yesterday.

Hi all. I went to the GP yesterday afternoon and got referred to A and E for X rays on my neck, wrist and shoulder. Five hours later I got home - no fractures detected so that's good!
I'm still stiff and sore. I've decided to stop off work for the rest of this week and see how it goes.
I might go swimming tomorrow - a bit of non weight bearing exercise could be good.
Still sunny here - Mr F in the doghouse for not watering my plants.
Have a good day x

Get well soon Anj

For most of the last couple of days I've been watching YouTube videos from Sunday, and this is one of my faves. It's our old friend the Toffee Hammer and he captures the atmosphere outside the ground from before, during and post match. Jazzy should be particularly interested from 32 mins when he arrives at the pub where we watched the match. Great stuff

Edit. jazzy spotted. ;)

Sorry to hear that Anj. I'm still waiting for it to kick in. If anything I have less aches than yesterday. I've got a cold though. Either that or the hay fever has kicked in as I run out of my tablets in Liverpool and didn't bother buying any because I was OK. Step foot back in Cornwall and wham.

You won't like Zombie then mate. But the rest of that second album is more heartfelt mellow vibe.
“Zombie “ passed me by at time and I guess for many years, until the Irish Rugby fans started singing it , then it hit more prominence as the Irish song at the Rugby World Cup in 2023. The South African fans adopted their own version at one stage , but then the arrogant Saffas are the rugby fans equivalent of Kopites 🤷‍♂️

Here’s a short version.

Yep I can confirm that I'm in that video. You have to be very eagle eyed to spot me so I'm very impressed Fred , without your glasses too 😂
