Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Do think we’ll sign a few older heads for the squad but on the whole it’s got to be u23 players with a high ceiling, hopefully TFG and the new recruitment team are insistent on this and don’t let Moyes get his own way by getting Soucek etc.

Roma bought Hummels

At the end of the day, regardless of their quality they were two squad players who at least offered something. The money saved in wages of the two (approx 7m pa) is going to be dwarfed by what it will cost to replace them. The club as you said wanted them to stay, we might have to offer contracts to players we initially didn’t want to keep just to fill the squad out, as it will be too expensive to replace them all.

…tidy in possession but woefully slow, can’t help think of him trying to run after Joelinton in the game at Goodison. Embarrassing.

Clearly we’ve been used to mediocracy for too long.

Mangala was absolutely average and the fact that was better than some of the other players we’ve had in there shows how poor the squad has been.

Gueye, Garner, Mangala, Davies, Allan, Siggurdson, Barry, Schneiderlin, Delph, Klaasen, Rooney. - not an ounce of pace between any of them and only Gueye and occasionally Allan even had any aggression.

Doucoure Onana McCarthy at least had the legs to cover the ground but their technical skills were limited and even then Onana was snatched off us straight away.

People want technical players, absolutely, we all do, but you cannot dominate teams in possession if you can’t get the ball back when you lose it.

I’m absolutely sick of watching Everton teams chasing shadows against nearly every team in the league because we have no legs upfront, no pace out wide, can’t cover ground in midfield, and have two tug boats at centre back.

It starts in the engine room though. We should be looking at players that can get in the face of top opposition, knock them off their game. There wouldn’t have been any ‘dogs of war’ if the dogs can’t even run quick enough to get a tackle in. We even had a good few quick midfielders in the 90s who could put it about but since McCarthy and Barkley we’ve barely bought anyone with the pace in there to get on top of the opposition.

Superb wow, give it rest mate, 17th placed Forest didn’t think he was good enough and went and bought better midfielder and are now in Europe. We should be going out and getting better, James garner isn’t good enough and so far Villa Tim has shown nothing to suggest he is too
We was so much better with him in our team for the short time he was with us.

Superb is an absolutely ridiculous overstatement to be honest. He was fine, and if he'd carried on playing at that level over the course of the season then there would be a decent argument that we should try to keep him/loan him again. Signing him again while he's recovering from a very serious injury and is likely to miss/not be fully fit for a significant chunk of the new season just because he was quite decent for us in a dozen or so games just doesn't seem like a good idea at all to me. There are loads of players who could be 'fine' for us in the same way he was, there's nothing remarkable about him that would make him a player we should focus on, other than the fact he's already been here.
Hahah maybe over egged it but he was good for us. Season loan would be ideal

Or, if past history is anything to go by, we'll take our time and then not buy the right midfielders and forwards, and all the people who told people to stop bedwetting for mentioning it in the summer will cry about it all season as if it's a massive shock.
Always a big fan of the bedwetter shouts when there’s 6 hours left of the window and we haven’t signed someone for a position we badly need and haven’t addressed for 3 years.
