Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Selling him is one of many reasons why they are in such a mess. He was arguably their most consistent performer over the past few seasons, got them crucial goals and gave his all when he played. It's players like him they need but with that clubs notions of grandeur they couldn't see it and just bought crap on higher wages.
Absolutely agree and it just highlights a flawed mentality where a fanbase and club becomes such purists on what they seem quality to entail , living in a fantasy world that doesn't exist anymore (golden age of united) , as one united friend who supported Mctominay was an outlier and most of the other local united supporters were very dismissive of Mctominay, who as you correctly stated was a very valuable asset for the team. Obviously it's not the same situation entirely as united have had vastly more resources and been closer to success lately but I do see parallels with our fan base at times , where we feel exceptional players can be obtained when it's a glamorous high profile signing.

Can't get my head around people wanting the likes of Mangala and Lindstrom back at all. There's a whole world of footballers out there, why are we obsessed with always going back for the same ones we've had before?
"why are we obsessed with always going back for the same ones we've had before?"

We literally only had Mangala for about 2 months and he was superb for us

Superb wow, give it rest mate, 17th placed Forest didn’t think he was good enough and went and bought better midfielder and are now in Europe. We should be going out and getting better, James garner isn’t good enough and so far Villa Tim has shown nothing to suggest he is too

Superb is an absolutely ridiculous overstatement to be honest. He was fine, and if he'd carried on playing at that level over the course of the season then there would be a decent argument that we should try to keep him/loan him again. Signing him again while he's recovering from a very serious injury and is likely to miss/not be fully fit for a significant chunk of the new season just because he was quite decent for us in a dozen or so games just doesn't seem like a good idea at all to me. There are loads of players who could be 'fine' for us in the same way he was, there's nothing remarkable about him that would make him a player we should focus on, other than the fact he's already been here.

It’s not feasible to go into a season with 12 first team players, so really we’re just going to have to do early business whether it suits the PSR man or not. We sort of don’t have a choice. The recruitment team thing isn’t an excuse either because the owners have had since January to start putting a recruitment team in place. If there still isn’t one then the manager is the recruitment team as it stands, so he better get to work.
Post date the check - PSR achieved.

As I say Im not fussed either way. Only thing is, if Moyes wants him back he does have a good recored of improving players he has faith in.
Would understand another loan and well would not like him to be a main target we have this window. As feel we need be looking for a real wide player.
…yes, on the evidence of Sunday.
I thought he looked ok in a poor southampton side ofc 100 mill is just insane. If could get similar price to delap i would try for him, is talented just english tax on players is to much
