2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Lest we all forget, Moyes was asked about a new contract for DCL - his response went something like this..

DM: there’s not been a contract offer while I’ve been here

Journalist: what would have to happen for there to be an offer?

DM: he would need to convince us that he can stay fit

J: and how can he do that with the short number of games remaining?

DM: 🤷‍♂️

He should go for his own sake. He (and his wife) have fallen out of love with Everton, and I don't really blame them for that. On the other hand, watching him and Beto up front on Sunday, there's only one of them who should have a future here and that's Beto.

He's a great player but, like many before him, he hasn't reached his full potential for various reasons. There's no point in him staying here to get more abuse and to look increasingly less of a player. I thought the same with Iwobi - just go mate, you'll be happier elsewhere.

He should leave with our blessing as fans, and with best wishes for him to thrive elsewhere.

Until his hamstring went after 10 minutes into the next game. DCL out for a run of games saw our goal return improve.
Not quite that binary though. As that completely ignores the negative anti football played by Dyche and the more positive attacking approach Moyes instilled.

We will never know though as he got injured again. So time for us to thank him and part ways.

I think he will go if he & a club can agree terms ....

You'd think someone like Leeds or even Sheffield United (if they make it up) or Burnley would have a go for him. Localish and he'd play if fit and they might give him a decent wedge. I just don't see anyone at Everton or above levels going in for him - I would avoid like the plague if he was coming to the end of a contract at another club because of his scoring and injury record.

Will he ever stay healthy again? Is Beto a one year wonder for us? These questions have to be determined this summer. A Delap or a signing quite like him would relegate both you would think.
