2024/25 Harrison Armstrong

….i thought it a huge risk sending him on loan, especially to a relegation fight in the Championship but I’m absolutely delighted it’s worked out well.

He’s clearly a talented footballer but away from all the stats etc, he must have some attitude, application and belief in his own ability to play under that pressure.

A vital 1-0 win for Derby in their relegation 6 pointer at Hull with the goal coming in the 84th minute. Derby are 1 point clear of the drop zone but it's really tight at the foot of the table - two out of six teams could go down. Harrison Armstrong was booked in the 40th minute but was still trusted to play the full game. 7 out of 10 from the Derbyshire Telegraph: "Was booked for simulation in the first half which seemed very harsh. Played forward when he could and got through a fair bit of work. Battled superbly."
Starting to have real hope for Harrison. For me he doesn't do anything flashy, but to be put in to the situation he has, force his way in to the team in the middle of the pitch, then play 90 mins every week in a relegation battle says a lot about him. Gives a 7/10 performance every week. To have a player of 27/28 play with that consistency in that situation would be an achievment, for a kid of 18 to be doing it is remarkable. Another loan next year is not a bad option, maybe at a team further up the table, but if the likes of Doucs doesn't get a new contract, he could get some good minutes here, and I could see him forcing his way into a regular role given the opportunity.

My money would be in him ending up at Sunderland next year, either on loan or perminantly with a buyback clause, in return for Riggs.

We need multiple incomings and Riggs might be too expensive otherwise.
Likelihood would be a loan as I say, but a sale + buyback clause is not beyond the realm of possibilities

Are you calling Rigg a 'lethal weapon' mate?

Good first half from him...what impresses me the most is his physicality. Only turned 18 not that long ago...likes a good tackles, comfortable on the ball...and has an eye for a pass. Should have had an assist in that first half.

I’m torn between bringing him back next season or another year on loan. My knee jerk reaction says to bring him back. But my head says have a successful transfer window and see what that bears next season. See if Armstrong can sustain this level over a full season in the Championship, and if he is who we think he is now then we call him back.
