2024/25 David Moyes

We shouldn’t have put Moyes in charge of recruitment. He’ll do what most managers do, buy players for the immediate short term.
Who says that we have put him in charge? The rs have a transfer committee (I think) the suggestion is that it may be a little like that). It wouldn’t make sense for one person who could be sacked 10 games from now to be in charge of targeting players for a style unique to their footballing philosophy and style. (Despite having a DoF the rumour is that’s exactly what happened under Moshiri as he was incompetent)

If Everton had just performed like Villa, this board would have exploded wanting Emery’s head. The moment we lose form people start calling for heads to roll. We’ve had nothing but relegation fights for what 5 years, barely able to keep a manager for more than a season and a half. Glasner would have been sacked in November and everyone would have been happy but look at Palace now.

Same with Forrest, we’d have never accepted that appointment then after last season would have been calling for his head.,One of Moshi’s many early mistakes was listening to fans and sacking managers to quick. We went from one in 11 years to almost 11 in 11 years, it’s no way to run a club.

Our squad is awful because we’ve sold every good player we could for FFP other than a few at the back. If Moyes is good at anything it’s building a squad on limited funds and that’s what we’ll have because the rebuild is so large.

Regardless though just stop all the moaning, back the manager and let’s look forward to the new stadium.

Has everyone just forgotten how hard April fixtures have been? We looked at it months ago and panicked, we’re now comfortably safe and have acquitted ourselves pretty well considering how bad this team is.

I think with some quality additions we can be aiming for 10-15 next year rather than in that 15-20 blender we’ve been in.

….he’s undoubtably a top manager doing a top job just when it was needed.

Get 10 people in a room and ask them to select the team and you’re likely to get 8 different outcomes, yet there’s almost a paranoia about some of Moyes’ selections. He’s working with the same group of players Dyche had and the bottom line is Moyes has got it right.

He keeps alluding to the obvious lack of quality in the squad and will hopefully start to address that during the summer. Genuine threat and goals in the top third will get us moving quickly in the right direction, I imagine that’s his target next season.

It’s not that knee- jerk to point out that the game yesterday was the most Moyes game ever. Play not to lose then, turn up for the last ten minutes. I said this before we appointed him, he will get us top ten but insists on not competing for anything more. He is terrified to have a go a go at the big teams and it’s Been his MO for twenty years

He needs to grow a pair

There were players in the squad other than Doucoure and Harrison he could pick instead. Alcaraz and McNeill in and let's actually attempt to play footy.

The footy has been of a poor standard and the results have been alright overall but have dropped off recently. I wanted to see if he had grown a bit since the old days of knives to gunfights but I am not seeing it tbh.

I'm happy, he's not Dyche and the results are slightly improved but do I think two more years of this type of footy and approach is desirable? Not really, no.

The slightly more creative players arent creative enough to guarantee improved results.
So chances are we become defensively more vulnerable and consequently get beaten easier. Rather than making us difficult to beat and having a chance of stealing the game.
I would like us to play attacking free flowing football, but I would not attempt it with this squad. Not enough pace and not enough guile.
Beto is doing a job, but he is a wildcard and not someone you can build a forward line around. Doucs for his faults is seen as someone to pick up the second balls in the final third. I agree he lacks quality but i can see the thought process with him. We win the ball again in the final third it’s the first line of defence.
Dyche and Moyes were / are playing to our strengths, you might not like it, but we don’t have a squad with enough.
The alternative is that we go like Lampard did and try naively try and play football we are not capable of… or again we look at the likes Ipswich manager this season or Burnley last season with there attractive style of football which effectively saw them relegated.
Unless we change the playing personnel it’s a waste of time trying to play more attractive football.
Defensively we are strong, from keeper to centre backs and gueye - these are the only players that could get into top half premier leagues sides, it’s not surprising we play to their strengths.

Yea we know mate we all have tranfermaekt. We are also aware of the good players he signed Bowen, Kudos, Paqueta etc - there’s no need to the dance everyone knows.

People also know that spending 500 mill isn’t gross it’s also net. But the goal isn’t what you spend it’s the impact.

As I said before he took WHU from relegation fodder to Europe and Cup Finals (thanks for mentioning he one a trophy. That’s in the last five years - 20 lol - he did the same here.

Your point is he did the above due to bad recruitment - that’s non email and if it was I’m ok with him doing that here if it leaves to same outcome.

He left this club in 2013 round 1, I’ll let people do the maths on your he hasn’t recruited well for Everton in 20 years hyperbole.

Have absolutely 0 stress about our recruitment -
Actually really looking forward to it!
You mentioned a net spend of 5 mil in The first message I replied too , so I presumed you were talking about his time at Everton which started 23 yrs ago, his net send was about 20mil but it’s still very good

His net spend at West Ham was about 300mil

Mate stop with the 20 years ridiculousness, you were wrong move on, you don't have to try this hard - everyone on here know he was here for 11 years, up to 2013, its just silly.

Essentially your non sensical argument here is - in the last five years Moyes took WHU from relegation fodder to Europe, to a Cup Finals, to a European Trophy - through bad recruitment.

Its not a logical argument. If he achieves that here with similar "bad recruitment" ill be a happy man.
