Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Souček rumours are gathering pace. He’s a decent player but not sure I want Moyes making these sort of signings.
I`d take him over Doucoure any day of the week but 30 year olds aren`t the future for this club and I`m sure West Ham will want closer to £30m for him.

Much better out there on the continent for much less.

Dyche like Moyes keeps saying PL experience but how many of our most successful signings had that before? How many of Brightons players had that before?

We need a lot of new players, a healthy balance of young and older, experienced players has to be the way - especially as it seems a lot of our older players look to be off

Experience doesn`t guarantee they are good enough... I`d even argue an experienced player would be harder to integrate in to a new system than a younger player, old habits die hard and all that.

If we want a pacey side with energy, which we really miss, I don`t think we should be looking at players like Soucek.

I just don’t think you can chuck 13 younger player into a prem squad and hit the ground running. It is essential we have a good number of experienced , wiser players to bring them together. As long as there isnt loads of them on massive, long term contracts, it benefits everyone

I'm pretty sure TNT said yesterday we've the 2nd oldest team in the league. We'll still have Pickford, Tarks, Gana (I assume) and ones with plenty of experience Branthwaite, McNeill etc. I'd be avoiding signing likes of Soucek

They did indeed - to be fair though having a 35 year old starting as one of your outfield players will always take the averages up a fair bit.

It depends on how 'young' players actually are though, we should be looking at the 21-25 age range imo not teenagers like Rigg. As the other poster said we will still have a fair bit of experience left. Buying 30 year olds like Soucek who have little resale value is just money down the drain and is not good recruitment no matter how you try and dress it up, if he ain't good enough for West Ham anymore then he isn't good enough for us imo.

Agree completely. The only condition I'd add is the bulk of the money being spent on younger players. Experience is a must too but I'd rather add it on loan or cheaper players from abroad who have enough of a track record over the years that they could be depended on.

Paying a premium for Premier League experience for the likes of Soucek terrifies me. If we can get someone similar cheaper or on loan that's the route I'd take.

I imagine Gueye will leave us in the summer. We’ll probably be expecting him to reduce his wage figure whereas he could probably increase it by moving to Saudi.

Gueye, Doucoure, Keane, DCL, Harrison and Holgate are all at the top end of our earners, Coleman doesn’t contribute much anymore so lose him off the payroll, Young must earn a decent amount as well, add in Maupay as well and it’ll be nice to see us having some room to manoeuvre for new signings. Must be around £750k a week from those.

….maybe a bit less if you’re counting Keane twice ;)

1st thing I’d do is offer Branthwaite a new contract. Could or give him more than double what he’s currently on to sign a longer contract with some clauses if we receive a fee we’d be happy with.
