….i’m really surprised Moyes has so many detractors, there’s bound to be difficult spells ahead and he might not get much leeway.

For me, he’s done what I hoped Dyche would do. He’s managed to give the team more threat whilst still making us hard to beat despite the obvious lack of quality in the squad. Now it’ll be down to whether he can continue the progression and that will surely be down to comings and goings in the summer.

I think his report card to this point has to be very, very good but it seems he has little security in the bank with many supporters. I’m just chuffed we’ve been able to chill as early as March this season and whilst the PL title has an inevitability about it, at least there won’t be red flags out of windows for the Champions League final.

Thanks Moyes, a terrific appointment in the short-term & here’s hoping you keep up the good work :pint2:

A few cranks on here (including one well known contrarian who wanted Gareth Southgate 🤣🤣🤣🤣) is not representative of the match going fans who seem very much behind our manager.

Very little context to this, it doesnt include style of play, manner of defeats,

the last 8 weeks or so under Moyes have been a breath of Fresh Air compared to Dyche and Benitez
I like how he equates Dyche's .89 ppm with Moyes 1.5ppm, despite him not having Ndiaye etc and a harder schedule.

Because stirring the pot is fun. I mean I also like how in just 12 matches he has a +15 on goal differential compared to Dyche this season.

I think 1.5 ppm is about the maximum you can reasonably expect from this squad, considering the lack of investment in it over the last 3 or so years

Yeah, and with a tough schedule that puts us 5 points off europe right now over this whole season. There will be ample opportunity for people to complain next season when we finally have a decent squad to put out, so I think we can wait til then to really enjoy a good moan.

Moyes is primarily here now for expectation management.

There wont be much to spend again and he'll sell it for TFG...just like he did for Kenwright for years.

That expectation management and the usual deference he shows when playing 'big clubs' are what fuels the opposition of his many detractors.
Yes, I've always thought Moyes could use some PR training.

On the other hand I like the way he sets expectations for our MFs and Defenders etc to weigh in with goals, and work rate, commitment are expected.

He's a good thing for us right now, I want to see us similarly tight and pressing top half next year and a cup run. He'll need a striker, CM, wide player and LB to do that.

Yeah, PPM should really be the metric used. It’s really the key thing and separates the true league managers from the pretenders.

He's a world leader in that task!
