The offside rule is pathetic in its current format

Are defenders meant to have eyes in the back of their head now to check if the opponent’s player is onside or offside before attempting to play the ball

Ridiculous

If he’s stood offside and the ball was intended to go to him then he’s offside

Simple as
Thought it was about interferring with play. Which he clearly did because his position affected the defender. Weird, seems obvious to me

Honestly, I have no idea what the offside rule is any more. If Tarkowski leaves that ball and Diaz takes one step towards it then he's definitely offside. If Tarkowski plays it and Diaz doesn't get near it apparently he's not offside, despite the fact that Tarkowski only plays it because he can't be sure if Diaz is onside or not. That's my understanding, which is probably wrong, but, if it's right, means the rules are completely nonsensical. I'm not sure why they have to change the offside rule every single season. It certainly hasn't made football more fun to watch. Top level football becomes more of a chore to watch every season.
At the risk of being attacked by rascals calling me a kopite, the rules which mean this wasn't offside have been word for word the same since 2016/17, and in meaning since 2005. It's a bad rule.

No mate, you're spot on. It's absurd and even that manager of theirs admitted as much too.

I didn't want to post it last night, but how bad is Drury on Sky? I don't understand the appeal, he's constantly just trying to be poetic instead of commentating on the game.

The novelty rubs off quickly over a 38 game season
The commentary was getting on my nerves last night, although a lot of Sky's commentary has that effect on me. At least Carragher wasn't commentating as he had on past matches against them. Good commentators know when to go along with drama and tension, and when to dial it down a little.

I must admit, some of the reaction has reminded of the occasional social media storm of ‘WHEN THE HELL DID THEY START SAYING THE KEEPER WAS ONE OF THE PLAYERS WHO COUNTED AS KEEPING YOU ONSIDE?!!!’.

A miracle goal, Diogo Jota the Portuguese Man O war has just sent shockwaves through the spines of Everton and their numbness will be felt across every ocean…

Just say, Jota has scored.

I happily take the loss if it has meant the media, the fans, the police, the kids, the dogs and cats who all support derrr mighty reds are fuming at Tarky.

He's dreadful, he plays up to his 'persona' and sounds pure cringe
