In the sense we are going to need to sell before we can buy Catcher. Because I assume our PSR is not looking too perky with an 80% Wages to turnover and 140 mill losses already on the books.

This is the first real test of the Friedkin era. They had to get in a new manager ahead of their desired timeline, but they'll have had a while to plan the playing squad revamp and work out how they are going to keep Branthwaite.

His stock is rising no matter his omission from the England squad. I see Didi Hamann in the Irish newspapers saying he's worth his "waite" in gold and that "Everton fans would understand if he joined Liverpool as Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world."

Yes, Didi. We'll understand about as much as you did when "Trent" left for Madrid, the actual biggest club in the world.

So, pay Branthwaite what he is worth in the market, buy some undoubted quality at first realistic opportunity, and send out a statement that Everton does not sell to rivals.

Its no secret that Mourinho comes into a new club and focuses on the spine first.

If we were to do that and have an obvious bias towards English players around the same age/potential as Branthwaite then the two clear attainable targets are Delap and Wharton.

In my opinion, Branthwaite then looks at these two as equals and sees that perhaps they and Pickford all could be in England squads together + the squad is stepping up a notch, instantly.

A couple of big moves like this gets the English media watching -- those London journalists love to praise certain English players.

The club needs the media to love or hate the team -- they need to be a main story every day/week. Thats how marketing will drive the revenue streams.

I talk about the likes of Dibing and Rigg as the other route is to bring them in right before they explode in the premier league...

...remember, were not only paying for players with this summers signings.

They may have to spend a lot of money soon, but they have had fun in the meantime

Villa & West Ham fans have had fun...it will be a great memory for them they can cherish over the next decade unless they work magic in the transfer market.

I'd rather build something sustainable over a decade and enjoy myself for 10 years.

West Ham can spend a fortune every year, they have a 60;000 capacity stadium that they don't have to pay to maintain. Villa are a different kettle of fish though and may well be in big trouble in about 18 months.

How do West Ham attract all they need to compete? They look at risk to me in multiple areas in their squad.

Their stadium of course is a big boost but why havent they been able to sign the top players so far?

Branthwaite to the RS worries me......he is a kopite too, his whole family are.

Once July comes it looks better. Getting to July looks the very worryingly bleak part. We are replacing a 44 million loss in July. This year had a 50 million loss with 44 mil of player sales.

I cannot see how we get to compliance without a big sale as we only have, so far, Onanas profit offsetting Ndiaye and Obrien purchases unless they've kept a lot of the accounting tricks back for the year. But the horse has already bolted for this 3 year window, it may look better under TFG but they will still be paying for the sins of Moshiri.

Seems to be following the same recipe from the past few years to me, big sale in June. Purchases in July. That to me is selling to buy.

Hopefully mate. I'm hoping, and suspect they will, that TFG will allow us to spend on the basis that they are confident they can maximise revenue over the next three years.

Whereas previous owners would be cautious.

I'm aware they're separate but also conscious that Everton keep telling us how much we definitely aren't in any trouble only for July to come around and we're engaging in dodgy swap deals and selling off assets. As late as January they were insisting there was money to be spent and of course there was not.

Fool me once and all that. I'd like to see one definitive good financial year before I say we're out of the woods. Fwiw i have us at about 45 mill loss, so not impossible but also less than your 60. Though id like to think you are right. I'm not calling TFG skint, I just don't think they will be able to spend in the current rules, and may require one final big sale to get us compliant and clear of that monster loss.

….this time last year, it was Gnonto on repeat. This year it’s Rigg, Wharton, Delap and Dibling.

Its a shame we didnt have the dough for Wharton, suspect the lad will be a very decent player.

Its the fact that he keeps saying we should sign him when I suspect his price has doubled since they signed him, probably tripled after his England cap.

Just cant see it unless branthwaite is sold just think would cost to much money esp if they come up next season.
