Praised by who? certainly not the fans who couldn’t get enough of him and the team needed him on the field with his goals, assists and all round game.
Pundits and the media in general. Rooney had a fantastic career and was perfectly developed by Moyes. Fans are never the best people to decide how many minutes are appropriate for a 16/17 year old boy.

If I remember rightly - DM & Rooney fell out towards the end - plus we gave him away price wise & ended up with United rejects .....

Only Tim Howard in his early years was any good -Gibson - pants - Neville { average} & a few others were awful & costly in wages ....
I'm not sure Moyes determines the price. Gibson was actually a very good player for us when he was fit.

It was Magaye Gueye. Not Margaret, Magrayt, Magyar, Michael.
Just something I'm irritated by.
(Now, please don't vault me by showing if I got any names wrong...)

Is that you Sean?

Give Moyes (or any Everton manager) the same quality of players (and squad depth) as his rivals in the sky six and see then if he ‘sits back for a draw’. If so, then fair enough the criticism would be warranted but far too often I just see a team of poorer players who have played well for 60 mins not being able to maintain it for 95 as the opposition who are already superior just start emptying their bench giving them multiple different options and ways of playing that force tired players back.

I see there are a couple of posters who were hoping Moyes fell flat on his face so they could have their "See, I told you so" moment of self-flagellating glory, but now that he's made them look like idiots, they're going back in time and blubbering "But, but what about this?" Which makes them look even more childish and sad, really.

And that was basically the case for the vast majority of his first stint here. Sure, at the time we were upset with no away wins against the Scab Six or whatever, thr "knife to a gunfight" mentality, but with hindsight comes clarity in the realization that thanks to Kenwright, he was basically fighting with one arm (at least) tied behind his back.
He has always been viewed as the archetypical pragmatic Scot because he really had to be. Some are criticizing him now for still preaching "safety first," but then again he didn't take over a team hovering around the European spots, did he? He inherited a team languishing a point above the relegation zone with a game in hand against the runaway league leaders, a game we were heavily favoured to lose.
I realize old habits die hard, but I would like to see how he approaches things if TFG do open the vault in the summer.

He was the best player in the squad at 16/17 and he knew that after training with them for three months. Getting beat 3-0 by United at Goodison Rooney came on after half time —he revitalised the team at 17 years of age, we got back to 3-3 before United got a last minute winner. After the game the United players were telling Ferguson he had to sign this kid.

Drew 0-0:with Bolton Rooney created chance after chance for himself with Bolton ‘keeper making save after save— after the game with the press praising Wayne’s performance Moyes said “ He never scored though did he?” While in the Main Stand Bobby Robson and Alan Shearer couldn’t believe that such a young player had put in a superlative performance like that — Their words.

When Wayne Rooney was 16/17 he was a man when it came to playing football physically and mentally.
Have you considered that just maybe Moyes was trying to manage a young player correctly and not let him get ahead of himself. Some people call it good man management.

United players trying to sell our new hope to themselves - quelle surprise!

The press - desperate to sell him to their favoured teams.

Shearer (player) and Robson (manager) at Newcastle at the time courting the signature of Rooney were hardly going to not big him up.

It's not rocket science.

It appears to be for a few on here.

The sooner they go back to three subs max, the better.
