If we put him up for sale at 30m tomorrow, he would be sold within an hour.
You mean in the summer obviously but why has no club bid for him over the last four or five years? I think every top club in the premier league have bought one over that period but not one of them has made a bid for Pickford. Now you are putting a price on him £30M, isn’t that what we paid for him? At his age he is coming into his peak years so if he was that good he’d have quite a few clubs rushing in to sign him. He is a very good shot stopper but he has a few flaws in his game as well as his temperament being very suspect, oh and his lining up his defence for free kicks had another howler added to the list on Saturday.

Its the worst shout that i hear everyone say trying to defend an average keeper. We could of replaced him with better or worse whod of still made the saves he made. None were exactly hard. He also cost us loads of points each season on his own. Far more than hes ever won.
Bar the chelsea game in 2022 I genuinly cant think of a match he "saved us" he even cost us goals the week later when we beat Palace to stay up he was all over the place.

Name them?
@fitzyefc . Still waiting for an answer🤷‍♂️

Are you sure? Keeper prices haven’t really exploded the same way say attackers have
and it’s only a set of (mostly misguided) rich clubs that pay huge fees at the position.

And even then a lot of it has nothing to do with saving shots which is again misguided, but you look at United and Arsenal and they’ve spent big to sign guys because they can use their feet. Jordan is ok here, but his lack of composure will not be looked kindly upon.

To be clear if we could get that amount I’d probably take it but as Pickford gets the wrong side of 30 it becomes less likely someone puts that amount of money. We really missed our chance down the years. We are also one of the clearly misguided clubs that overspent on the position when we signed him in the first place.

Setting aside the overrating of the player that’s not what it means in any way.
I'm curious what opportunity you think was missed by not selling him then if you dont think we couldve improved on him. It can't be that you think the funds from his sale would've been reinvested because that would mean you've just awoken from a 4 year coma.

Maybe we’d have not had to send back points!

For a club with no money having a bunch of it tied up in an overvalued asset was not smart.

In retrospect, his penalty save against Leicester basically single handedly kept us up in 2023. The year before he had a couple great games in the run-in (most notably the one against Chelsea where he made back to back saves at the Park End) that ensured we didn’t go to Arsenal needing a result to survive. We didn’t get docked points in either of those seasons, so I think it’s hard to argue that selling him to get FFP compliant would have been beneficial in any meaningful way.

Goat I never asked how good other goalkeepers were I asked which clubs had made an offer for Pickford, genuine bids not paper talk, I don’t think there have been any, in todays market I think we would be lucky to get the money back we paid for him.
They know he’s not for sale.
He’s far and away Englands best keeper, and on a par with the fella over the park and Raya.
Ederson is way past his best. Martinez is an excellent keeper.
Without JP we’d have been in the Championship and not likely to have come back up.

Wouldn’t get back what we paid for him….seriuosly?

How on earth do you know there’s been no bids?
You don’t half talk some waffle.
