I agree very realistic post, selling Branthwaite sets us back massively. We should make him the corner stone of the team.

I think he'll stay another year with the improvement under Moyes and new ground.

Also World cup season so would he really go somewhere else and potentially bench warm when he knows he's starting 40 odd games here if he remains fit.

Post World cup will be an issue if he gets in the squad but dosen't play as he'll be one of the few not playing european football realistically.

I’d never heard of Bove until I signed him on FIFA 😂 is he good in real life?

Permanents I reckon: GK, LB, CB, RW, ST. With loans for another forward that can play across the line, DM, RB (we don’t really know what Moyes thinks of Patterson at this point).
I'll hazard a guess and suggest he - along with every other manager in the last 3 years - thinks he's utter 💩.

I'd rather not spend 150m then.
Also think your 150m figure contingent on Branthwaite is too low.
Lot of talk about needing x amount of players. It's bordering on bedwetting of the fantasy type.
If we get two or three in of the quality of Ndaiye or JOB next window they'll have done very very well.
Better than grabbing in a raft of players which we'll be looking to get rid of soon enough.

There is no way they powers will try and turn it all around in one or two windows. Any attempt to do so puts the club at more risk than where we now stand. Have we not learnt.

Selling Branthwaite sets the team back with no guarantee the 'slush fund' gets em ahead.

LB and RB, no.6, no.9 and 2xwingers certainly needed - I'd take quality over quantity and bide time while continuing on an upward trajectory.
My point is we’ll struggle to abide by PSR rules with a spend of 150m in one window. Hence why I think Braithwaite would be sold for such an outlay.
Moyes does like British talent. He’s spoken of the championship being a market we could operate in, but even then your being quoted silly prices for unproven players.
Maybe we should look to Europe. We’ve been linked with the lad at Sevilla and Club Bruges look to have some decent talent within their team. However with his track record, I do have confidence in Moyes signing the right players.

Moyes does like a smoke screen and keep gems close to his self. Actually, played the media in his first stint with us. He has a keen eye in the up and comers in the lower leagues. Seamus Coleman and Tim Cahill were astute pick ups. If he does get some money to spend I will be upbeat.

Why would we? Our big loss from 22/23 stops being an issue. Club made less than 20m loss last season & shouldn't do more this season. 150m with 5 year contracts is 30 million amortization per season.

I've re-counted and even a bare-bones side of 24 players (2/3 players for each position) would require 7 signings to have sufficient depth.
I'd expect loans to be heavily utilised again (at least 3).
If we have a budget of around £80/100m (I've no idea if that is the case) then its 4 players in the £20/25m region.

I would agree with most of that except I’d keep Lindstrom and you can’t be serious about Young
He will be 40 next season
He gets as many yellow cards as tackles right every game

6 to 9, depending on what happens with some contract situations

I hate what I'm about to do, because I firmly believe the type of people who do this usually need their hard drives checking, but...

GK - Pickford, ?, ? - May need up to two new signings here as both our 2nd and 3rd choice keepers are out of contract)
RB - Patterson, ? - Will need a right back as both Coleman and Young are out of contract and shouldn't be offered new deals, plus doubts about Patterson's level
LB - Mykolenko, ? - Will need a left back as we only have one at the club
CB - Tarkowski, Branthwaite, O'Brien, ? - May need another centre back if Keane isn't offered a new deal (which should only be on v reduced terms)
CM - Garner, Iroegbunum, Gueye(?), ? - Mangala's injury probably rules him out as a signing, but we will need at least one centre mid - two if Gana leaves
AM - Alcaraz(?), ? - You'd think it's unlikely that we offer Doucoure a new deal at least on his current terms, we may make Alcaraz permanent but possibly need another, but maybe we'll see N'Diaye and McNeil as viable options behind Alcaraz as the number 10?
Winger - N'Diaye, McNeil, ?, ? - Lindstrom and Harrison loans ending - we will need a couple of wide players here
Striker - Chermiti, ?, ? - DCL out of contract, Broja's loan ends and hard to think we won't sell Beto. We are going to need a couple of strikers.

That's potentially as many as 12

Realistically I could see one of our keepers staying, so us needing one there. I could even maybe see Keane getting a year on reduced terms unless he wants to go and play elsewhere. Think Gana will stay.

If you pressed me for a number I'd go 8, maybe 9 tops.
The Beto but didn’t age well

Based off him using him in games prior to his injury?

Every other manager in the last 3 years? Lampard used him. So basically your sample size is Dyche whose judgement has been shown to be garbage based on Beto and OBrien.
