Beer, revisited

In my humble opinion, no country in the whole wide world beats the Belgians for their special beers. So privileged to live about 20 km from the Belgian border
My brother used to live in Brussels and bought me a case of Westvleteren for my birthday one year - you can only buy it directly from the monastery where they make it. It was unbelievably good.

Some German beers defo give them a run for the money.

But, there`s a lager variety / styles of Belgian beers, which gives them the edge (imo )
No contest for me if I'm honest. But all about taste preferences and opinion ofc.

But the variety in styles is indeed massive in Belgian beers. Prefer the Strong Blondes, Quadrupels and Tripels the most myself. Also not adverse to the fruity ones they produce. Mostly during the summer months though (typing that while enjoying a Kasteel Rubus).

Have a liking for the heavier stuff. Most of them start around the 8% alc, moving upwards.

I became a covert to Kriek whilst I was in Ghent.

It’s a perfect summertime drinking during the day beer and it’s too sweet to swig, so you automatically take your time with it and then move onto the darker and stronger beers in the evening,

For all the Yankee Bluedle Dandies....gives off standard (ie. not NA, which I didn't know they made) Blue Moon vibes. Never been a fan of IPA's but the NA nature has a positive affect. 8/10
