….i’m guessing a bit here as I have no idea about his background, but I assume ‘street footballers’ still exist in poor areas of S America. It’s why they play with spirit and quality, they still play like the game matters.

Give me street footballers every day of the week, full of passion, aggression and appreciate what they have.
Was just gonna post similar, love any footballer who plays like it matters and they are bothered.

Even if they aren’t the most skillful, like the straq, niasse or even Beto, but they give their all every time they pull on the shirt and make things happen on the pitch. Always rooted for players like them and happy to have them in the side.

When they have a bit of skill/magic as well as the street, like Rooney, you get special footballers.

Dont want to heap too much pressure on the lad, but it looks and feels like he could be the latter - spirit and skills.

Has to start every game now, I’d forgot how much better having a baller in the 10 is to the side.

Showed real composure with a perfectly weighted pass to set up Beto for the opener. Composure in the final third is not something you associate with most of our attacking players. Think he’ll only get better with games in his legs.

£18 mill maximum including clauses seems an absolute no brainer to keep the lad.
The article states it's £15 million after he starts nine matches. Flamengo paid €18 million for him in a club record signing, and I assume they want their money back, hence the figure. I'm guessing that's where the confusion on figures (18 vs 15 etc) is occurring amongst some.

If he suddenly starts coming off the bench around game 7 or 8, we'll have a pretty good idea what's going on.

The price seems more than reasonable at this stage.

Read somewhere it was £15 mill base with £3 mill in clauses mate, hence saying max. ;)

If its £15 all the better.

Started one and already has more creative output then the Duke.

Im full sure he can impact games in this league - like last week.

Hes a sound investment. I can see his quality from outer space.

We've negotiated a good deal here.
I really liked his composure and end product but let’s be honest he had a poor game.

Hoping he settles and builds more on his overall performance as he gets acclimatised again.

To say he’s a no brainer at this point is… premature.

Did we learn nothing from Andre Gomes?

I didn't think he had a poor game at all myself mate, thought he gave us something we haven't had in a long time and that's natural transition through that central channel. I dont think we win last week without it. Thus saying earlier he impacts games.

Sure, no need to rush. Take all the time the confines of the deal allow, but if he continues on his current trajectory - then its a very good value deal.

Dont think its a good comparison between him and Gomes, Gomes was believe it or not one of the costliest players ever to play for this club, about 12 mill a season all in or just shy. This lad will be coming in at something like £5 mill.

Just thinking to myself this morning deals like Garners, N'Diaye and this lads are incredible good value investments in our much maligned recruitment.

I think our recruitment gets a bit of a tough wrap sometimes.

Id add in O'Brien, Tarkowski, Gana, McNeil have all been good buys recently too.

A poor game? Seriously? I thought he was fine - nowhere near poor by our current standards. Saying he was amazing would be an overreaction, but calling his performance poor is just as much of an overreaction imo.

The only criticism I can give him is he took a couple shots when he should’ve passed. He grew into the game though and was arguably MOTM, second only to Beto.
