Commuting - on public transport specifically, used to be you could read the boredom and drudgery on people's faces. Now all you see is frontlit aura of their cellphone reflected face. People obsess over themselves including the fifth apendage. They are engrossed. Seen so many miss their stop.

It’s extremely sad, I think.

I rarely use my phone when I’m out in public, but when I look around, I just see the vast majority of people constantly looking down at their pacifier.

Interesting times, and life as we know it and normality as we knew it, is changing ever more rapidly, even by the hour in some cases.

Where I work I’ve never known a place like it. 90% of staff, when away from their desk, are engrossed in their phones, walking to the toilet, to the coffee bars, up and down the stairs, in the lift. Even a lot of them when they’re stood at a urinal.
It’s like a scene from some Sci-fi film where they’re all possessed.
Worked on construction sites previously where it was a massive no-no to be caught on your phone while moving around site.

I seem to remember an episode of Star Trek - The Next Generation that showed this, with people trapped in the world of the screen they were gazing at,a type of brainwashing. Seems the writer could see what was on the horizon.

Instead of being used phones (and other "smart " devices are misused and what we have now is essentially a modern form of enslavement and a universal dumbing down.of the masses to the point of hypnosis
