I think there's Tim Cahill, with better technique, and not the same aerial dominance here.
Alcaraz' best skill, according to many, is timing his runs late into the box to score. That is pure Cahill. I'm not sure Timmy would have threaded today's ball through to Beto quite as perfectly, though. The finish from the goal mouth scramble today had all the hallmarks of one of the many times Cahill opportunistically utilised his anticipation and desire to bundle the ball over the line.
He seems to also have the high work rate, determination, passion and commitment to pressing that Timmy possessed.
Equally fiery, Cahill was very adept at toeing the line between aggression and not being sent off. Whether he will be just as successful in finding that line is another question. I note Carlos was sent off for Southampton in a "friendly" v Lazio.
His style suits Moyes' tactics, if he can be half the player Cahill was, we will have found a rough diamond indeed.
